I operate primarily using Gurps, and the stat blocks above are from GURPS City Stats.

Thank you very much for the compliments. I'm taking a short breather from teh setting while I collect my thoughts on just what I intend to do to it. I'm fairly certain that it will be a mix of Diablo- and Warcraft-like sword and sorcery, and the sort of bright, wondrous high fantasy I was first introduced to in highschool when some friends made me play a wizard in their Advanced Dungeons and Dragons game. Eventually, I'll tackle some big-picture stuff, but I'd almost rather avoid that sort of thing until much later. I like the idea of doing the setting design on the same scale as the knowledge an adventurer in the area might possess.

Whenever folk mention sword and sorcery I wonder whether they mean following that Doyle and Burroughs or Feist and Martin. What do you mean? Do the skies have an important place in this setting?

Breath away, and come back after playing some D3, if you're not in the beta, I'll look into hooking you up.
Settings I\'ve Designed: Mandria, Veil, Nordgard, Earyhuza, Yrcacia, Twin Lands

Settings I\'ve Developed: Danthos, the Aspects Cosmos, Solus, Cyrillia, DIcefreaks\' Great Wheel, Genesis, Illios, Vale, Golarion, Untime, Meta-Earth, Lands of Rhyme

Oh man I wish I was in the beta! And I grew up on Burroughs and his progeny (Heinlein, et al.). I love his Mars books and hope to capture that feel, for sure. I haven't gotten my hands on the Connan books, so I am judging mostly by the movies, but that feel fits, as well. Fast-paced, swashbuckling, monster-slaying fun for all, but in a dark and impending doom sort of way.

Here is a rough sketch of Dunweald. I'll fill in more as I add more, but for now, this shoudl suffice to get relationships.

Don't tell the river police! :O

More seriously, that's a nice map man. What's the scale?

Humabout

Thanks, man. Scale is roughly a day's walk between towns, except teh ones between Dunkirk and Bridgton, which are more along the lines of a day and a half to two days. All walks assume you're walking with an oxcart. Distance-wise, 20 miles if the terrain is favorable, shorter if it's not.

Sweet map! So, is this the de facto setting map, or is there more you plan on elaborating upon beyond the scope of this map?

Humabout

This is a local regional map. I envision Dunweald as one backwoods part of a continent-sized plane, and that plane as being one of many material planes, all sandwiched between Heaven and Hell. I just chose to try worldbilding a bit differently for a change - bottom up. It's an interesting approach, and I think I have a far larger quantity of gameable information already. I'm just lacking on things like how magic works, still. IT'll come eventually, though.

Also, that map is not complete. I just began by laying out some settlements and the river delta. Most of the white space is forest, and I need to drop "interesting locations" throughout it.
