The City of Dynama

[ic]Your Grace, the Beauty of the Megalopolis cannot be denied. Oh yes the city is advanced mechanically. Oh yes, the architecture is without measure. Oh yes, the ethnic equilibrium within the city works.... Somehow.... But the keg will catch fire eventually. creatures of the deep, beasts of intellect, and the heathen dead? All of this will collapse eventually, mark my words... We DO NOT want to turn our glorious ancient nation into an ugly, repulsive cesspool like Dynama?[/ic]

Paolini Distro, Religious adviser to the monarch of Bamvia, a far off nation

The once small gnome village that would become Dynama evolved along extremely unique circumstances. For one thing this was a gnome settlement that had boasted some of the finest geniuses the race has ever produced. They experimented with Alchemy and clockwork and perfected it to an art form unto it's own rights and obligations. The obligations part though wasn't quite met though. Nothing really advanced in terms of civilization for a very long time. Over 100 years ago though, that changed. The gnomes were conquered by human armies from a far off empire across the ocean. The gnomes were forced to give up something to the empire in tribute, and so they began to show the humans their contraptions and see if they would satisfy the demands of the Imperialists. The humans were intrigued by these doodads, and began forcing the gnomes to build and invent machines that could help them in every day affairs. Human scholars and engineers aided in helping the gnomes create new machines and to mass produce these wonders. Over the next century, the humans and gnomes had become a singular culture with it's own unique ideas and goals. The city of Dynama managed to rebel and brake off from the far off Empire gaining independence and freedom. Forming something of a quasi-republic, they inadvertently created the mightiest city-state ever created, and with this, the perfect storm of progress began.

Dynama City assumes a scenario where the right circumstances occurred in a fantasy setting for an industrial revolution to occur. The current time resembles the 1910's through 30's in both style, architecture, and technological precedent. Magic still exists in the world. Magic isn't considered "taboo" in Dynama, but it is regulated depending on the circumstances and type. Offensive magic is required to have special permits, and Necromancy is outright banned in the nation.

Sectors of the city.

The Stone Gate
All who immigrate to Dynama must pass through the regulated and tightly scheduled inspection system set up in order to gain passage into the city. This place is infamous for it's swindlers and hustlers. Still if you have proper knowledge of that, and are compliant with standards and regulations then you should be just fine.

You will then be placed on a boat and escorted into the city via ferry. Upon entering you will have five basic sections of the city to explore.

The Central City
[ic]

When the world imagines Dynama, it imagines the vast skyscrapers that seem to grow from the ground like mighty trees in a stone and concrete forest. This is Central City. A government center, an economic powerhouse, and a market wonderland, it is filled to the brim with technological commodities.
[/ic]
Gnomeopolis (Slang term)

The industrial and research sector of the city. This is where the magical wonders are built and processed. This is also where the biggest magical research facilities in the world exist.

Thenia

The artistic soul of Dynama dwells within the charming and quaint sector of town known as Thenia. A large population of people that hail from the land of Corenia migrated here decades ago. The land of Corenia is a cultural power of the world, with a strong heritage and tradition of art and theater that spans the centuries. While not welcome when they first came here, the Corenian migrants began to settle along the coastal area, and decided to integrate their construction with the aquatic environment around them. Now the town of Thenia is a canal city with streets of water that has housed a strong artisan tradition for the last few decades. Theatrical performances are held each week in the many stage homes, fine food can be found on each street, and artists can be found working and competing with each other all time.

However, what truly makes Thenia unique is its population. Merfolk and other aquatic races dwell under the city and have their own artistic styles that help contribute to the

Necropolis

The laws of the land dictate that all sentient creatures have certain rights. Intelligent udead fall under this category, but are socially segregated to a sector of town known affectionately as Necropolis on the edge of the city. Vampires, liches, and other such creatures live here.

Looks like part of a sentence is missing there. What were they engineering? Also, shouldn't that read as "the gnomes managed to rebel[...]" since it's apparently refering to the population of Dynama?

You're right. I'll re-write that.

Humans and gnomes have integrated into eachother. Gnomish invention and human ingenuity united together to create the industrial revolution through magic. Basically Dynama is kind of a fusion of Washington DC, Vinece, New Orleans, with pulp influences like Gotham, and other such cities.
