Well, I'm new here, but what is this stuff under my name like [Box Turtle]. Also, what is all of these circles under my name?

Thank you,

"It is hard to understand why the gods do their job. It is even harder to understand why dragons are so rude. It isn't important, however. What do you care? You're still alive, no?"

The forums ranking system will highlight those little circles (which are actually worlds) as you post more.  Each time you progress a level (a new world is highlighted), your rank will go up.  Your current rank is "Box Turtle."  Why?  Because box turtles are tiny. :)  Why turtles?  Because that's what I like :)

Welcome to the Guild, ask around for anything you need.

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

I always thought it was a world-building reference.

You know, "turtles all the way down."

If that's another Terry Pratchett thing, I keep having to tell you guys I've never read any Discworld ;)  I've never read any... I just like turtles :)

Not a Pratchett thing, although he may be making a sly reference to it.

"Turtles all the way down" has to do with infinitely regressive series.

Why do you have a link in your post that allows us to quote Ishy's latest post, LC? Not that I don't want to quote Ishy (it's awesome, everyone should do it) but I just don't need you to link it. ;)

"Then shall the last battle be gathered on the fields of Valinor. In that day Tulkas shall strive with Melko, and on his right shall stand Fionwe and on his left Turin Turambar, son of Hurin, Conqueror of Fate; and it shall be the black sword of Turin that deals unto Melko his death and final end; and so shall the Children of Hurin and all men be avenged." - J.R.R. Yeah, I wondered that, too.  But some things are best left unasked...

Unfortunate copy/paste error! That link was supposed to link to the Wikipedia article for "Turtles all the way down."
