The Way of War

I'm not sure if this is more of a Dragon's Den or a meta thread, so I'll start here.

Has anybody here ever heard of or played a minis game called The Way of War?  It's published by a company called The Cabil.

I picked up a copy of the rulebook yesterday and it looks kind of interesting.  It's supposed to be multigenre and to allow players to create stats for any model they happen to have.


As a more general thought, has anybody experimented with using minis rules to resolve combats for RPGs and just using the main RPG rules for the nonviolent skill resolution?  For example using AD&D 2e for character creation and nonweapon proficiency stuff and Battle System Skirmishes for combats.

The only time I considered using Minis rules for RPG combat was when I was planning to have the climactic battle of a campaign be done with the D&D mini rules (converting the players to be leaders amongst their army, each with a unit under their control). Sadly, I never got to run that, nor have I actually played any minis combat games yet.

But it could allow for the best of both worlds.

It might sound nutty, but the only minis game I ever actually get to play/ have played is Heroclix.  I have a small collection of both figures and rules systems for various other games, but they don't see a lot of use, althought there was one memorable night, where after I got the World of Darkness: Combat book that I decided to take Vampire: the Masquerade tactical.  That was fun, but not something I did again.
