I have hardly any experience in creating classes, so this is my first attempt at making a Martial Striker much different then the rogue {I hope}. I used the DM's Toolkit program to design the class, and it is 4E, so thank you to the creators of the DM's toolkit. I just want everyone to honestly evaluate this.

                    Assassin
 "Kill one, save a thousand,"

Class Traits  Role:
Striker. When there is one key enemy that needs to be taken down, your the one for the job. Your group need someone to sneak past the mobs of minions to take out the archers? Your the answer. Although this aplies for all strikers, the assassin specializes in taking out key targets instead of just doing lots of damage to everyone.

Source: Martial. You have learned acrobatics and advanced killing moves through some means, and use them to your advantage.

Key Abilities: Dexterity, Wisdom, Strength, Intelligence, Charisma

Armor Proficiencies: Cloth Armor, Leather Armor, Chainmail; Light Shield

Weapon Proficiencies: Simple Melee, Simple Ranged, Military Melee, Superior Melee

Bonus to Defense: +2 Reflex

He comes up from behind, cups his hand over the man's mouth, then a knife is driven into his back. The deadly assassin pulls the dead enemy into shadows, awaying from the eyes of sentries. This is how the assassin operates.

   ASSASSIN OVERVIEW  Characteristics:

Rarely is an assassin a happy person. Killing is their life, and death is not a joyous thing. They are almost always dark, distant and cold, having no sense of humor whatsoever and always having a dangerous glare in their eye.

Religion: Although it might be a strange thing, many religious orders have assassins working for them. They can take out enemies of the religious order, and are thought of as holy guards. Assassins themselves, however, rarely ever worship gods or goddesses.

Races: Humans, Elves, Half-Elves and Drow are all the best assassins. All of them are able to posses the acrobatic ability needed and the perception and awarness that comes with it. Teiflings posses the right state of mind for the job of killing, but their infernal blood drives them to impulsive decisions, and they are not patient enough.

Creating an Assassin  When creating an assassin, keep in mind that you want to dish out as much damage as possible to one enemy at one time. You should also focus make sure you can escape at all times, and pick feats, skills and powers that can compliment that.

Crimson Viper Assassin Your are rougher then other assassins, but your fighting style focuses on quick, incredibly damaging strikes. Damage, damage damage is what you should be worried about. Anything that does more damage, do it. Although you may lack the versatilety of other assassins, the ammount of damage you dish out makes up for it. Seems odd that some of the abilities are equipment-based? (the black egg and the flash bomb mainly). Wouldn't they just fall under regular item use.

slightly[/i] easy challenge for the whole party, not an effortless cakewalk. 4e also has little (no?) mention of opponent's levels in other powers--i don't remember anything like circle of death, for instance.

Maybe something that works well against minions instead? (the 'new' pushovers for this edition). Something where he can automatically deal small damage to an adjacent creature?

Quotestunned for six rounds. stunned for four rounds. , etc
really[/i] good (see eyebite the warlock power) should last until the beginning of your next turn.

(generally of course, the more often the assassin can use a power the shorter the duration should be--i think most powers just last until the end of the player's turn, with most 'save ends' powers being daily attacks.)

QuoteAttack: Dexterity vs. AC W +6

i'm not sure about your modifier numbers? Usually a power's bonus attack/damage is based off some attribute or a flat, fairly small number like +2 or so.

I hand't really thought about that. I would like to keep them a class ability, but maybe I could have the PC have to spend money on the appropriate materials to create black eggs.

As for the Assassinate class feature, I didn't like it myself but I want a sort of instant kill ability, because I didn't feel an assassin class would be complete without it. Maybe I will make it something like an instant kill to minions.

Good point for the durations, but I still use them in my home games.

About the modifier numbers, I don't know what I plan to do about that, but it will come to me.
