Currently I am in the process of completely revamping my Aeolond campaign setting. One of the most glaring deficits in the original design was my lack of detail with the various Royal Families. My aim with this thread is, as I am sure you might have guessed by now, to develop a fairly detailed family tree for each of the 13 Royal Families that now exist on Aeolond as well as the 4 extra-Aeolond independent states and the 7 port-city crowned republics. I hadn't considered posting this material prior to the creation of the new Aeolond Setting Thread, however as recent Tavern posts forced me to realize all too clearly, this type of activity is fraught with potential clerical errors... Thus feel free to point out any errors you see and please, please, please feel free to post any and all concerns, criticisms and/or comments on any thing (anything at all!)

Thank you in advance

With out further adieu, the first of the Family Trees will concern the Kings of the Midlands - the House of Corrin Lieg-Ashwyn.

Things to keep in mind with this family, the Midlands are a kingdom filled to the brim with Knights all looking for their leg up in the world. Unfortunately Midlandic tradition states that all titles possessed by a female heir are passed on to their husbands when married, thus the two largest land owning families in the Midlands (the royal Corrin Liegs and the Ashwyns) have conspired to acquire more land with minimal potential for loss by intermarrying. Regrettably, this policy has been strictly followed for well over a hundred years and has led to quite a... mess, as I am sure you can imagine. Not only do both families intermarry with frightening regularity but they have a terribly tendency to put all their eggs into one or 2 baskets (once again, to avoid the potential loss of land through marriage).

The current King of the Midlands is 20 year old Calvin Ashwyn I, who married his immediate predecessor's wife, Easter, just 3 months after the latter died in a hunting accident. Easter convinced (some say blackmailed and bribed) the Parliament of the Midlands into favoring Calvin over Leon V's legitimate heir (also named Leon) citing the need for a King who is of age (conveniently omitting the fact that Calvin is but 7 years Leon's senior). Regardless, Calvin is inexperienced and thus relies heavily on the wisdom of his good wife (some even go so far as to whisper Calvin is merely a puppet). There are quiet efforts currently underway to both undermine Calvin's rule and promote the (in their eyes) legitimate King - Leon VI. These efforts are rumored to originate with Leon's wife, Tabetha, who is both the sister of Leon V and her husband's aunt.

Next up is the Kingdom of the Westlands, a country deeply divided by war and religion.

EDIT: I'll post info about the family in the morning (after I get some sleep).

Ghostman

Looks like Kim Siret I had no shortage of suitors. Although she did end with a glaring shortage of offspring.
