Somehow or another, cabbage has become associated with the CBG.  No, I'm not going to look up the specifics because I really don't care.  I think it was from realizing that spelling "cool" with a "k" instead of a "c" turned it into the Dutch word for "cabbage", but I'm not sure.

Currently, the e107 software is supposed to have the ability to let you go directly to the page that another member is viewing via a link next to their name on the front page.  However, it does not work.  So, in an effort... well... perhaps just in jest, everyone's name now links to http://www.cabbage.net instead of a thread.

What is Cabbage.net?
Cabbage.net is one of the two domain names for the website of Dayoub Marketing (the other two being http://www.dayoubinc.com and http://www.dragonfarms.net [Simplified Chinese]).  Dayoub Marketing is a grower, packer, and shipper of produce headquartered in Fredonia, New York.  According to their site, they grow cabbage, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, onions, carrots, and sweet corn in both New York and Florida, and ship them to parts of the United States and Canada.

It is my guess that since they have a version of their website in Chinese, many of their customers are Chinese, which makes sense because cabbage is common in Chinese cuisine.

While either CYMRO or me came up with that fairly soon after the cabbage hype started, the hype itself originated earlier.

When Ninetails Demon was our most recent new member (one can look up when that was if one really wants) Ishmayl wanted to welcome him in an original manner in a Tavern message. So he used a Latinized version of his name:

"Welcome, Demonus Nonus Calus!"

To which CYMRO responded:

"Fiend of the Ninth Cabbage?"

And hilarity ensued, followed by a hype, and then followed by deep reverence for the great power of cabbage. The only thing that remains unclear is whether it was Ishmayl who mistranslated from English to Latin or CYMRO who mistranslated (on purpose) from Latin to English.

but he aknowledged that the issue of mistranslation was "unclear", whereas i aknowledged the subjectivity of my statement ("my understanding" of the issue).

you cant really use a statement that throws the issue into subjectivity as grounds to disprove an openly subjective statement.

I just went to Google Translation, typed in "Fiend of the Ninth Circle," and copied-and-pasted whatever it gave me.  I think Cymro intentionally misinterpreted it (though, since I am no scholar of the Latin language, I could have done something wrong), and the rest is history.

Wow... that's such bad Latin it makes my eyes hurt.

"Demonus Nonus Calus" would translate to "Demonus ninth callous." "Demonus" isn't a Latin word at all.  

A correct translation of Ninetails Demon would be "Daemon Novem Caudarum"  

A correct translation of Fiend of the Ninth Cabbage would be "Daemon Noni Brassicae"  (alternatively, "Daemon Noni Caulis").

The last I have to say on this matter is: obscurum per obscurius.
