How many settings?

Hey there.

I think working on several settings at the same can be good or bad. In the end it depends solely on you. If your comfortable with it, then go with it.

On another note,  even though settings here are -generally- made to be played by other people, it's your settting; and thus will only achieve some sort of decency or even greatness... and originality if created by -YOU-. Of course comments and ideas from third parties can improve your game world and philosophy, but keep in mind that -YOU- are the core and -YOU- have the ''vision''.

I've also come to understand that the way you communicate your ideas will greatly affect said third party's comprehension of your ''vision''. So it's important to review and sometimes rethink what your about to release.

All in all; nothing new, just enjoy doing it.

In the past, I have always worked on only one setting at a time. I would like to only work on only one setting ever but I lose focus. That's the main reason  I vanish from this site for months at a time. If I allow myself to work on more, I might stick around more.

What i was actually thinking right now is since I want to create an expansive (or, I suppose divset) space opera setting, I might focus on one world or one group of worlds at a time. Doing that, I can create relatively detailed small settings that, together, will form a larger setting. That's always what I really intended with my fantasy settings, too (that they would all be on the same planet).

Might want to check out Diaspora.

We've touched on it a little in one of the FATE-related threads, wherever that is.

Though I think it's mostly just because it's FATE, I've seen that setting mentioned enough that maybe I should check it out.
