Red Valor: Alterverses

alterverse [n, singular]: one of many parallel dimensions to the plane of Perann, existing coterminously and separated with a magical and vibrational barrier.

TARE-PRIME

Premise: A re-imagination of the original Red Valor universe with a critical underlying concept:

Basically, this re-imagining of the setting is going to explore a slightly different venue than traditional Red Valor mythos. In it, the mythic race known as "the Ancients" were actually un-evolved versions of the only current sapient race: humans. Across the continent known as the Tare, various political organizations and power groups eternally dance in a never-ending struggle for continental dominance. Far-off, the desert continent of Dontorr and the rainforests of Delphia are home to small barbarian tribes-- as of yet, there has been no consistent, peaceful contact with these cultures.

Year of divergence: Pre-history. The absence of elves, dwarves, halflings, and gnomes has made for a similar, but markedly unique, evolution of the Tare. Many of the power groups and ethnic groups on this version of the Tare mirror those of the non-human races of the "traditional" Tare, although this isnot always be the case.

Magic level: Medium. Magic items and mythic races are all but unheard of in Tare-Prime, however, and most magic is either element- or energy-based. (Summoning and divination are right out).

Deities: Deities are distant, mysterious, and generally unknown. They will probably not be described in mechanics or alignment.

Mechanics: Rules-free. This is more of a literary project than a game one, and keeping rules out of the equation will allow GMs to adapt to their game.

Alignment: Alignment will not exist in the "traditional" D&D sense.

Current year: 1603 YG (Year of the Gods)
