[ic=Foreword]So that I might not be charged duplicitous, or this document labelled farce, it is imperative, at the commencement, that you consider the following.

First, know that this is a fiction entire, save in such places as stated clearly to the contrary.  If, in certain passages, the actuality of the events transcribed is not rendered explicit in my telling, presume it fallacy; I would not deign to pollute your reasoned minds with egregious fiction wrought in honest guise.

Second, understand that the tale I shall impart is itself a retelling.  Hence, though some things herein shall bear a factual comport, their integrity is diminished by their magnitudes removed from the events by which they were inspired.  Do not let my hyperbole be a mark against the text; it is by the originatorâ,¬,,¢s words â,¬' and not my own â,¬' that it is manifest thus, and so as an honest and faithful witness I must be sparing in my interpretation lest the meaning be corrupted.
