[Higgs Boson]

First things first, I know what you are thinking. "What? Another project of Higgs Boson's? He'll just abandon it after a few posts and we can be left in peace." Well, I'm gonna develop on this one!
So, I am now stopping work on Derunas for a while to begin a new setting that came to me after watching a few hours of Rurouni Kenshin!

Basically, this world will be based off of the many animes that have influenced me. I'm working on a new system for it, skill and class based at the same time. So, this is kind of a homebrew and a system thread.

[Higgs Boson]

System:
This will be a class and skill-based system. Basically, you gain experience through skill use. Once you have used the class skills succesfully for a certain class a certain amount of times, you will gain a level in that class, and gain abilities that also improve as your skills improve.

Character Creation:
There will be four attributes: Strength, Dexterity, Intellect, and Charisma. At character creation, you will be given 30 points to distribute among those 4 attributes. Each attribute governs a specific set of skills, and your skill rank's base is the amount of points invested into its governing ability.

I may or may not develop this system to add magic in, as I loved the way Ragnorak, SDK, Bleach, and Naruto dealt with it, but it would give a disadvantage to the Rurouni Kenshin styled classes, which I am definitely including.

Skills by Attribute so far:
Strength: Jump, Run (Endurance), Health, Resist Poison
Dexterity: Run (Sprint), Martial Talent (Execution)
Intellect: Analyze Attack, Analyze Defenses, Brew Potion, Martial Talent (Learning)
Charisma: Bluff
A few words on combat: Combat will be fast-paced.
Also, Diplomacy will be awesome! It will be like a mini-game involving skill. The Islanders 'battle' with poems, the Asgardians will negotiate, and Jungle will have deathmatches. Just some ideas.

So, here are some ideas for combat and leveling:

Combat
When you start combat, your reflexes determine who goes first.
To attack, declare which body part you are attacking.
D20 roll to hit
You must get higher than their Avoidance + Protection + Base DC of that area.
Neck: 10
Head: 5
Arm: 2
Chest: 5
Stomach: 2
Legs: 0
Hands: 4
Feet: 2
If you are using an ability, add its attack modifier to your roll, along with your Dexterity, Strength, and weapon skill.
If your score is equal to or greater than the DC, you roll for damage.
Damage with a weapon is base weapon die rolled your rank times + strength with two-handed and heavy weapons, weapon damage + dexterity for light and ranged weapons.
Your turn consists of one movement, one attack, and one minor.
Action substitutions:
1 Movement = 1 Attack
2 Minor = 1 Movement
1 Full = 1 Movement + 1 Attack
3 Free = 1 Minor
Classes
Beginner (Rank 1 Class)
Warrior (Rank 2 Class)
Berserker (Rank 3 Class)
Samurai (Rank 3 Class)
Knight (Rank 3 Class)
Rogue (Rank 2 Class)
Bandit (Rank 3 Class)
Ninja (Rank 3 Class)
Ranger (Rank 2 Class)
Hunter (Rank 3 Class)
Archer (Rank 3 Class)
You have a level and a rank.
Levels are subsets of ranks.
The first rank contains 5 levels, and the only available class in this rank is beginner.
You get pass the first rank once you have 5 levels and have obtained a rank in one of the required skills to pass into the next class.
You gain experience points by using skills.
When you have used a particular skill 5 times, you gain 1 experience point, and one rank in that skill.
