Sneaky wizards. Any numerological number for the 18 or just the number of people skilled in leadership at the time?

Nothing really special for the number (at least at this point in their history). 18 is the number of the people there who were the best of the best (in the crew), but the wizards who ran off didn't cause the diversity of power in the remaining leaders to be totally compromised (they were specialist wizards of a sort, and the remaining leaders included a few generic wizards and sorcerers).
