Superfluous Crow

Clever name :p
And i noticed some of the references. Duke Leto and Aslan springs to mind. Was going to question you about them at one point actually.
Currently...
Writing: Broken Verge v. 207
Reading: the Black Sea: a History by Charles King
Watching: Farscape and Arrested Development

AslanC

What can I say?  I love in-references ;)

There are many many many in there, feel free to question about any of them, or the world in general ... I like talking about this place ;)

While the brief introduction is nice, it may also be useful to compile a list of the "themes" and "inspirations" of the setting, to help others get an idea for how they should run a game in your world.

That is fair enough, but from me at least the comments will probably be sparse until I really get the feeling that I want to examine the setting.

For example, I like reading Steerpike's newest updates to Cadaverous Earth, but it took reading and understanding his themes to overcome my initial repulsion to the idea of his world.

And Crow's Broken Verge was initially overlooked... but it grew on me as I saw the pieces start fitting together.

The key to getting more reviews is to make the setting (or the updates to it) interesting and intriguing for people to read. why should they care about your history instead of doing something else? What new can you give to them? How artfully can you present your ideas?

Good Luck.
~LD.

I have removed my material and post from this form.

There is no anger inside me, but I do not feel this is a place for me.

I will continue my efforts in other places where I have and simply move on.

I do sincerely wish you all the best and bear no malice towards this place.

It just simply isn't for me.

Thank you for the constructive and positive conversation Cataclysmic Crow.  It was appreciated.

Perhaps you misunderstand a bit.
I did not say that your setting was necessarily un-interesting, I just said that what I personally (and perhaps others) look for in a setting is an easy list of struggles.

I liked how in your introduction you mentioned evils lurking in the background and the Burning Plague was a nice concept.

However, what I personally read is not the history of duchies or the descriptions of Gods.

I apologize now though, I did not see your response to CC about the themes- you already discussed that. I am going to read it now-- maybe if you could move it up to an earlier post that would be a good idea?

The most eye-catching and introduction posts should be at the beginning of the thread instead of buried further down- or else people stop reading before they get there.

But on the second hand, if you look at others' settings, generally they only receive in-depth comments from two or three people. The creation of settings is generally a solitary endeavor, done for one's own enjoyment and edification.

LD

I see you removed the material while I was writing?

I am sorry that my post offended you so much.

AslanC

No need to apologize at all Light Dragon.

You last line hits the nail on the head.  I don't feel that creation is solitary, therefore I will only become frustrated or disinterested in this process here.

I understand or grok the Zen of this place now, and it isn't for me.

I prefer conversation, feedback, and even jokes.

Nothing can be made in a vacuum and for me that is just the law of anything I do.

Cheers and good luck with your endeavours.

Your post did not offend me Light Dragon, it simply opened my eyes, nothing more.

Please do not take it personally, as it is not intended as such.

...Yes, it sometimes is a little slower here at the CBG than some of us would like. People read what they can when they can. With a bigger community, more feedback may be had. Good luck at the Cartographer's Guild. Perhaps you may want to try your luck here: http://giantitp.com or at the Wizards of the Coast Forums.
