Quote from: PhoenixExcellent, LV. I never saw the original show, but that piece is very uplifting (it starts kind of slow, though).
well, I was looking for that, for Shadowfell.  Something that could start with mist in a dark moor in the morning....

LC, if you are lurking, Ish is asking about what 'Vagner'.  I'm thinking Tristan und Isolde.

Although not really a setting yet, my Cyberpunk Project has lots of music genres, artists, and songs listed in it. If I could say that it had any soundtrack, that list would be it.

If anybody knows anything about The Other Side, they won't be surprised to find out that I think the best soundtrack for it is anything by.... *drumroll*....

Kitaro writes some interesting music, no idea whether it would work with anyone's setting, but it might be worth a listen.

That's also what Mystery of the Moors made me feel.

Thanks Steel. I liked that. Maybe I'll have to buy a CD from him at some point.

I tend to waiver back and forth between buying instrumental and regular alt rock stuff.

I saw him in concert (for the Kojiki album) once with my family, wasn't thrilled about it at first. But I was blown away! All of his musicians were fantastic and played several instruments each. I ended up buying the CD at the end of the show.

LordVreeg

Soundtrack for Verkonen Vreeg, last of the Omwo~ of the Age of Legends.  Heretic, Prophet, Coward, Betrayer, Redeemer, Creator, and Destroyer.  A logical insanity forced on him by the weight of Epochs gives him a cacophany of vision clearer and yet diseased.

Title: Covenant - Leviathan lyrics

Artist: Covenant

I watch minutes grow to hours, and how seasons builds the ages,

every winter dies in sunlight, only to be born again

and the rainfall feeds the forests while the lightning strikes the trees

turning giants into dust fertile ashes on the ground

i see them going down to the water

where they embrace the silent waves

slowly they're swallowed by the water

and their breath ascending to the sky

i see them now floating in the water

carried away, carried away

i see wasteland turn into gardens watching oceans giving birth

to fragile little creatures born to grow and multiply

and the children of the children of the firstborn claims the land

building fences for protection from their brothers greedy grasp

i watch kingdom rise and crumble and the nations come and go

only new names for the same things once the limits has been reached

now i see them lose their intrest in the deeds that have been done

and the wisdom that's been found, as they return whence they came.

i see them now floating in the water

carried away, carried away
One of my favorite bands to listen to.  the song 'Monochrome' is another favorite.
Kitaro's great. The only problem I've ever really had with his work is that it tends to all sound the same; unknown material is readily identified as his, but except for a few clear themes ("Silk Road" and a few others) it's pretty hard to identify any specific pieces. If you can switch disks/tracks easily while gaming it can be some good ambient material in nearly any setting for calmer periods - but tends to be a little too mellow once story tension starts to build. i.e., you can describe most of a city and what's going on there, handling inn arrangements, selling loot and shopping, etc.. . .  but when the party stumbles across a murder scene in an alley it probably won't work for a soundtrack unless the group has chemically recalibrated its Collective Surreality Filter. (In which case they already know that the Walrus and the Carpenter did it.) If you like ambient/electronic soundtracks I recommend Tangerine Dream for gaming.

The important thing to note is sometimes it's the lack of music that fits more than anything.

Apparently I've forgotten myself. BACK WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE...

In other news, Abraham's Theme by Vangelis is most certainly the title track for Vibrant.

For any of my settings pop in the Morrowind Soundtrack or something by Debussy. That's the soundtrack of my mind so it's probably the soundtrack of my worlds.

My "new" setting for Iron Heroes, would have...

all hail the reapers of hope

LordVreeg

I'll take a listen to the newer stuff tonight, after I get home from work.

I had the Band of Brother soundtrack on in the background for the Igbarian's fight with the mummy and his warriors under the Steel Libram last night.  players consoling each other and high-fiving is normally a good sign.
