Hmm... could of sworn that they weren't CeBeGia:Whatever when I checked.  Guess not.

Thanuir

Would anyone mind if I implemented some categories into the wiki?

Ishmayl-Retired

I would not mind, what kind of categories are you talking about?

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

Thanuir

At least adding [[Category:Ultimate Classes]], [[Category:CeBeGia]], [[Category:Jaggerfell]], [[Category:Arena]], [[Category:Characters]], and possibly some others. Some meta-level categories like [[Category:Game rules]] or [[Category:Meta]].

Ishmayl-Retired

Fine by me... I don't really know how to do that, so I'm perfectly fine with you taking the helm on that ;)

There. Some of them could be made more granular (ultimate classes, say, and perhaps Jaggerfell) but I think they work as is well enough.

limetom

All the categories that were red links are red links no longer.

Ishmayl-Retired

Excellent!  I need to work on that campaign setting rating system that I started (that you made some categories for).  Any help would be appreciated, as I know little-to-nothing about wikis.

I need some people who really know wikis (in particular, mediawiki) very well to get in touch with me about a few projects I have in mind.  Here's a few things I'm looking for:

*creating original templates for a series of ratings systems for campaign settings and homebrew rules
*setting up namespaces and specific user pages
*styling the page with some new css

Just PM me if you think you can help with this.

Thanks!

I know you said a PM, but whatever...

According to the Help:Namespace page on Meta, we should have 15 (but more than likely 17, with the inclusion of Media: and Special:).  However, I cannot be sure until the database is brought over.  I know for a fact we have at least Category: and Image:, so I'm pretty sure we have all 15 categories, they just need to be implemented.  If you meant adding custom namespaces, Help:Custom Namespaces seems to be pretty straightforward.  However, I personally couldn't do it, because I believe you need access to the database, which I don't have.

I'm currently trying to teach myself how to create templates, but since I don't have any programming background, it's slow going.  Luckily Meta has a boatload of Help pages on Templates, so I'll hopefully be able to come up with something; I saw what you were doing before the server change, and I should be able to implement that once I figure out what the heck I'm doing.

I'm not savvy with media wiki, but I'm getting more proficient with CSS coding (thanks to PlotStorming.com). If you need any suggestions, advice, or how to websites, or you just need to bounce some ideas off of someone. I'm willing.

The first thing I'm looking to get help on is designing templates.  There are a few templates I want to create.

- A template where campaign settings can be ranked according to how close to "completeness" they are.
- A template where authors can put stock information about themselves in any articles they write.
- A template for a Diablo II page that we can use to easily insert our Diablo II usernames, character names, character levels, current quests, etc.

Tangential

I'd use at least two of those, should they come to exist.
Settings I\'ve Designed: Mandria, Veil, Nordgard, Earyhuza, Yrcacia, Twin Lands<br /><br />Settings I\'ve Developed: Danthos, the Aspects Cosmos, Solus, Cyrillia, DIcefreaks\' Great Wheel, Genesis, Illios, Vale, Golarion, Untime, Meta-Earth, Lands of Rhyme

Ishmayl-Retired

Yeah, still waiting for people who may know what they're doing on that stuff.  I've got some basic template ideas ready for them, but they never seem to work out properly.
