[Jade Stage] Play-by-Post Interest Check: Ithyrian Political Game

All right, folks. Bear with me, because this might take a few weeks to set up, but I'd like to run a play-by-post political game in the Jade Stage setting. I'm starting a thread now to gauge interest, to see whether this is worth planning out, and how many players I can expect.

Here are some details:
- Game is run under Jade FATE - System information is on the wiki. Don't be intimidated if you're not already familiar with it.
- Game is Play-by-Post - This means that an inconvenient time zone will not prevent you from participating. This also means the pace will be fairly slow, giving you ample time to scheme and plot.
- Game is competitive - Rather than all players teaming up to achieve a common goal, each player will have his or her own list of goals, some of which will be secret, many of which will contradict other players' goals. You "win" by outmaneuvering your rivals to end up on the top of the heap.
- Characters are pregenerated - Due to the complex rivalries and secret goals, I'll be generating the characters. I'll post (heavily redacted) versions of their writeups on the main game thread, and you will choose from the list. You'll receive secret information (including a complete character sheet) for your own character only.
- Characters are Ithyrian nobility - You'll be playing as a human noble from the atavistic Kingdom of Ithyria, or as the trusted advisor or bodyguard of such a noble. This means all players will be jockeying for significant power, either directly (by ruling) or indirectly (by becoming a formidable power behind the throne).

Ugh, I feel like there's something I'm forgetting, but I'm really tired of writing this post. Let me know if you have questions, and definitely let me know if you're interested as a participant. As soon as I hit [POST] I'm going to think of something I forgot to say, I just know it

Ninja D!

Yep, as long as we'd get a bit more detailed information along with the character choices, I would be very interested.

Tangential

I am very interested as well. Prepare yourselves to be undone by my dapper schemes!
Settings I\'ve Designed: Mandria, Veil, Nordgard, Earyhuza, Yrcacia, Twin Lands

Settings I\'ve Developed: Danthos, the Aspects Cosmos, Solus, Cyrillia, DIcefreaks\' Great Wheel, Genesis, Illios, Vale, Golarion, Untime, Meta-Earth, Lands of Rhyme

Superfluous Crow

I am terrible at scheming and have little time, but this might be very interesting indeed. Otherwise I will just have to make my politician fake his death and come back later with the advantage... somehow.
Hmm, I need to read some more aSoIaF and Gentlemen Bastards to prepare for this.

Superfluous Crow

Will this become reality at some point LC? Despite my slightly ambigious last post I really would like to try this.

TheMeanestGuest

I'd totally play if it were over IRC, but, alas, PbP isn't really up my alley.
Let the scholar be dragged by the hook.

LD

I have the same sentiment as Meanest Guest expresses. Good luck though!

I checked in with LC a couple days ago, and he's informed me that right now it's on the back burner until further notice, but that things are still "simmering." I take that to mean: "In due time, young Padawan."

Anyways, I'd be lying if I said I didn't agree with LD and TMG, but I can understand how timeframes can really be a kink in the plans. As is, PbP is still a go for me.

Superfluous Crow

Haven't really tried Play-by-Post before, but I would probably have some trouble concocting intricate plans in the heat of the moment. Perhaps some kind of combo? IRC for the high class social events where our politicians meet to slander and spew cunning insults at each other.

Weave

That might be a really good idea, but if we can get everyone on at a single point, why not just go full IRC?

This will probably happen at some point, though probably not soon. Goddamned thesis is beginning to cramp my style.

The PBP format is an experiment, an attempt to make the game easier to coordinate between folks with difficult scheduling constraints, and a way to give all you vipers more time to scheme.

If you really hate it hate it, that's okay; there will definitely be IRC-based Jade Stage games in the future.
