Broken Vows
A Cad Goleór Play by Post

[note]RULES OF POSTING
In order to speed gameplay there will be certain rules on posting:
1. Post Rolls to hit and damage rolls in the same post
2. Do not wait for the DM (me) to respond to a post if it is your turn. At the end of the round I will do a single response.
3. Take your turn within 24 hours of the last.  If you do not, your turn will be skipped, or I will make up something for you to do.
4. No acting out of turn (unless the person ahead of you does not act within 24 hours)
5. Always post current HPs at the top of each new battle post
[/note]Tone/Genre: Sword and Sorcery/Dark Age Fantasy (Celtic)
System: Pathfinder
Game Type: Play by Post
Number of Players: ~3-5

Introduction
Welcome to the coastal town of Ceann Balor, where the windswept shoreline is guarded by a great stone sentinel said to be the massive head of a slain fomorian king.  A wooden palisade defends the town from attack, and from the dangers of the wild forest to the north.  Here warriors fight for glory and favor, artists and craftsmen seek patronage, and the layman farmer fights to make it through the winter.  Over all are the social laws and the magical geasa that bind the people to their word, and to their codes.

Premise
The PCs are exceptional folk.  Whether they are nobles filled with wanderlust, or those who do not fit into ordered society, they are people who are outside the usual structure of society.  They may be expendable, they may not be missed, but their special skills sometimes make their services necessary.  They are people who do what others dare not attempt, and for whom madness is an admirable trait.

Character Creation
•   Character Level: 5
•   Stats: Point Buy Method, High Fantasy (20 points)
•   Race: Human only
•   Class: See list of Available Classes
For "Rogue" players: I will tell you now that there will be little to nothing in the way of traps, so I encourage Archetypes that replace "Trapfinding" with other abilities.

House Rules
•   Defense Roll (I will roll all of these in play, so as not to bog down posting)
•   Weapon & Armor list
•   Honor Points (called Enech in game)
Note that excessive ranged combat or wearing armor may lose you honor points.

[ooc]Since scheduling IRC games can be difficult, and I have limited internet anyway, I though a Play by Post might be doable.  That way people can check in at their leisure, and not be as constrained by differing schedules.  I would be comfortable running this if I got at least three people involved, and it might be possible for people to drop in an out as well.  And I will admit that I shamelessly stole the layout Humabout used in his "The Rise of Eliryä" recruitment thread.  Post or PM if you have any questions.[/ooc]

I've never done any PbP gaming before, but I've followed your Gad Goleor thread with definite interest, so I'd be interested if someone could brief me on how it all would exactly work.

#2
It's like a game on the table, but online, and a lot slower pace.  People post what their characters are doing, and I would post with information in response to what the PCs are doing.  It's free form until a combat encounter breaks out, at which point you have to post your initiative roll.  There is a special "roll dice" feature where you can input what dice you are rolling, and

<roll>3d6+5</roll> (but with the <> replaced by [])

might look like this

[blockquote]Rolled 3d6+5 : 3, 3, 4 + 5, total 15[/blockquote]

And then turns become important.  You post according to initiative order.  Since the slower pace gives PbPs a tendency to stall out, I am imposing a rule that once it passes to your turn, you have 24 hours to post your actions (and any related rolls).  So you should try to check in once a day to keep track and avoid missing your turn.

Well, whatever ideas you guys settle on for characters, include a writeup for your character's background.  Family, some important points in your history, things like that.

Alright, it's not looking like there is enough interest for this to work right now.  Perhaps I will try again in the future.
