After a year of Kaidan releases in the form of adventures and setting supplements, I'm finally getting to creating the Campaign Setting guides - so we've got a Kickstarter going: Kaidan Campaign Setting

The goal is to create 3 soft cover printed books with B/W interiors in the following order, GM's Handbook, Player's Guide and Bestiary. However, if we only getting funding for GM's Handbook, then that is all we'll produce.

If anyone is interested in supporting this Kickstarter, or just spreading the word, I'd surely appreciate it.

Still less than a day since this started and we've already gotten nearly $1000 in backers! I am hopeful.

4 days in and we're at $2165 or 55% towards our Tier 1 goal - really we'd like to have $2310 by Monday morning. According to Kickstarter statistics whatever amount of money is collected by the first weekend is likely to be 33% of the total taken by the end of the project. At $2310 being 1/3, this means we can hit our Tier 2 goal, if the odds play out right. At this rate, we're sure to hit our Tier 1 goal anyway... with 56 days left.

I thought I'd open discussion regarding Kickstarter as a tool to publish possible CBG campaigns.

3,371 now- that's progress. Nearly fully funded, I see (!)

It would probably be a good idea to put links to the already published books on the kickstarter page, so that people can see the quality they would already receive and the backlog of stories (instead of having to hunt them down themselves). But it looks like you will easily hit 4000 before your deadline.

Also, small grammatical issue
QuoteT. H. Gulliver has worked on several project for Rite Publishing, but of late, his work has focused on the PFRPG Haunt rules and the books he has done in this field, including Rite's #30 Haunts for Kaidan. T. H. Gulliver , an Adjunct Professor of Hauntology, is confident that following this endeavor, he shall obtain full tenure.
*worked on several projects. (rather than project)

$3716 now, or 92% to Tier 1 goal ($4000), or 53% to Tier 2 goal ($7000), and less likely 30% to Tier 3 goal ($12,250) - still we are hopeful. I am certain we'll hit Tier 1 soon.

The Kickstarter page will be updated soon to include hard cover availability at lower than the current $1000 pledge tier, as well as bonus and exclusive one-shot adventures will be included at varying payment tiers as well, or as bonus material once certain pledge levels are achieved.

The update will also include information regarding what varying pledge maker contribution levels are, as it equates to different levels of participation. All patrons will get to vote on various pitches as they become available. Mid level patrons get to participate in art orders/art direction, while upper level ($100+) pledgers get to make pitches of their own, and if voted in, the opportunity to design/write the actual content and be included as an author in the credits.

Whichever guide books do not get funded in this Kickstarter will most likely be a separate Kickstarter, sometime after the release of the funded book(s).

Things are looking good!

I never worry about minor editing gaffs in forum posts... :D

Edit: update is coming on Monday, Steve had to finish layout and releasing 2 products, plus some private issues to deal with, pushed this till Monday, this way we have an entire 'news' week to promote the update. And hopefully we'll have reached minimum funding on Monday as well.

Edit2: now at 97%, only $104 short of funding.

We've reached our Tier 1 goal of $4000 and are now on to our next Tier goal of $7000 - thank you, pledgers!

Two new incentives:

All patrons of $40 or more, will receive an exclusive one-shot Kaidan adventure as we cross each tier goal, and since we've already crossed Tier 1, that means all qualifying patrons are owed one one-shot already.

We've added a $200 payment tier for anyone of the $125 tier who would prefer a hard cover book.

Patron Participation:

All patrons of any payment tier, at the completion of funding, will get access to the private Kaidan section of the Rite Forums - get access to discussions, updates, see art and maps as they are completed and get to participate in poll voting for design decisions.

Signed book level patrons ($100+) will get more in-depth discussion, access to rough draft material as it is completed, and able to pitch their own ideas, if accepted, get opportunity to write/design the content, gaining name credits in the guide books.

We're extremely happy for reaching our first goal and hope to reach the others. If you haven't pledged, please do, if you cannot, then please help spread the word!

Wes Schneider, Editor in Chief at Paizo Publishing just became a backer to the Kaidan Campaign Setting Kickstarter, and he officially endorsed Kaidan on my Facebook page - woot!

I was so pleased with Wes Schneider's endorsement and having become a pledger to the Kaidan Campaign Setting Kickstarter, that I've asked Wes to write the forward to the book and he has agreed to do so - this is surely an honor.

Note Wes is Paizo's gothic horror guru and the primary thinker behind Ustalav, Golarians corner honoring Ravenloft concepts. He'll make a great forward to the guide book, I am sure.

Wish I had seen this sooner!

It is fantastic that you've gotten a kickstarter.  That seems to be the way for guys to get things out these days, and it's a fantastic way to minimize risk!

Have you ever thought about writing for e23 at SJGames?

I am very fond of tea.

Though I have some writing credit for my setting, I serve mostly as researcher, developer, technical advisor and cartographer - Jonathan McAnulty is the actual author of most of the work (at my direction). I'm adding to my creative experience, perhaps one day I'll be more the writer. For now I'm still learning the ropes to the publishing world.

I've got 15 days left in the Kickstarter, so if you want to do more than 'notice', I'd appreciate it. If not, at least help spread the word. We have achieved basic funding, and sitting at nearly 150% of goal, still we'd like to achieve the higher tiers if possible (only $1065 from our Tier 2 goal and $6300 from our Tier 3 goal - I'll be surprised if we get that one).

Thanks for noticing, anyway!

No better time to plead than the present! :P

We've only got 5 days left in the Kickstarter, and only $670 in reaching our next tier goal to produce a 200 page, map rich GM setting guide, as a B/W interior softcover printed book. If you're at all interested in seeing this released now is the best time to join in.

Pledge if you can, or just spread the word - we are so close.

We have reached our $7K Tier 2 goal and on to our "Hail Mary" attempt at getting something of a Player's Guide released. With 50+ hours left, we decided to release the Player's Guide in 32 page increments at $1250 each (up to 5x). We are about $700 short of that 1st increment goal ($8250). Hopefully we can release more than just a GM's guide. Make pledges if you can!
