I recently joined this site (apparently i joined a long time ago though must have forgotten about it, but anyhow) and hate joining forums without introducing myself.

I come from cartographersguild.com after asking a question if the site had any worldbuilding partners, as cartography and worldbuilding tend to go hand-in-hand.

Well my name is Nathan, though i go by the odd name of ~Vorropohaiah on 'teh interwebz' I've been working on my conworld 'Elyden' for close to 8-years now and tend to flit from pure worldbuilding to cartography, like an undecided fly moving from corpse to corpse. here's my gallery of maps over on cartographersguild.com and my blog with variousc artographical and worldbuilding tidbits.

I'm gonna start having a look around now to see if i find anything that takes my fancy...

thanks :)

Hello and welcome to the Campaign Builders' Guild, vorropohaiah! I like the style of your Elyden maps. Hope you'll find this site useful for your worldbuilding endeavours.

Welcome to the site vorro. We actually have a few cartographers of our own so I'm sure you'll get along just great :)

LD

Hello and welcome; the CBG's membership has a wide variety of interests so you should probably find some things to interest you. I saw your Flooding of Almagest picture on the Cartographer's Guild a few days ago and I was impressed by the idea; it's rare to see water-table and flood maps. The only thing that might have improved the map would have perhaps been some indication regarding the relative height of the land on which certain buildings sat. Now, the map can legitimately not have heights on it, but land contours would have been an intriguing addition.

Weave

Welcome, vorropohaiah (can I call you 'vorro' for short?).

Those maps are amazing! Very masterfully done; you've earned my envy. I'd love to hear about the inhabitants of this Elyden, as I'm sure many others would. I encourage you to share some of that world with the rest of us if you get the chance!

vorropohaiah

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

@ light dragon: very true about that particular map. I'm actually not that pleased with it, probably since it was done for one of the monthly challenges and i got bogged down by some commissions and had to rush to finish it.

@ weave: I was thinking of compiling some of my notes to post up an overview thread to get some feedback (though I have about 500,000 words written about the world, mostly regional entries and paragraph=length bullet points on places, histories, organisations, religions etc) I've not really shared the world with many people so some feedback from fellow worldbuilders would be welcome
