I just followed a link to this website run by a physicist very well versed in lasers and energy propagation, and thought it would be worth sharing for those who enjoy or are working on science fiction settings.  While the statistics-angle is system-specific, the bulk of the pages are not.  It covers realistic expectations for the effects of a variety of weaponized energy emitters (lasers, particle beams, etc.).  I've found the read quite interesting, and the reality check aspect of it enlightening, and believe that using a realistic treatment of traditional scifi weaponry could add an rather unique flare to a game.

Anyway, let there be a link!

For those who don't know it, there is also Atomic Rockets for a more general treatment of sci-fi tech and themes which might be useful to people as well. Perhaps we could compile a directory of useful sci-fi stuff?

That's the sort of thing that would be quite useful at times.  I spend hours upon hours scouring the web for information pretty regularly.  If it were all compiled in one spot, I'd love it!
