This is an inchoate idea but I put it out in case it might have 'legs', especially given how activity at the site has waned a bit and it seems that people who do not know that this site exists may have difficulty finding the site and in learning of its greatness.

What if the site had a twitter like an actual guild announcement board. It could run as a twitter feed on the main page and be a showcase of some of the best ideas on the site and some of the news and best announcements.

Difficulties.
- It is hard to obtain followers. Most of the posts will be talking to few, if any, people.
- It is difficult to write consistent and consistently good posts.
- Tweets get lost in the flood of other people who are followed.

Points for Consideration
- To counter difficulty 2 above, have multiple authors with access. (Of course, one of the multiple authors may decide to change the password and fill up the twitter with spam or unwanted posts).

Twitter does actually have built in support for teams, to prevent this exact issue.  This allows you to allow others to post from your twitter feed, but they cannot change the password or otherwise steal the account if implemented properly.

As you mentioned, it is a lot of work.  However, if the CBG wanted to go on twitter they would be in good company with a lot of solid twitter authors who do similar work to us, such as @thepatanoiac, @orbitalpatterns, or @quietpinetrees.

Thank you for the great clarification on the points for consideration and for the comment re the other twitter authors, Numinous! I took a quick look at them and that is definitely one way to take the twitter- writing out a specific world. Another way could be to send clever snippets about different worlds on the site and then short URL them as news flashes. "Ghul necromancer seeking cadaver for romantic relationship, deposit calling card at the Moat of Moans. CADAV EARTH LINK." / "Senator Basile promises oranges for citizens in exchange for tacit promise to only revolt against his enemies. ROME REPUBLIC LINK.", etc. There are certainly other angles to take with it.

This is a good idea, but I probably won't be the one to run it, unfortunately. I can barely keep the news post up to date. :P
