I recently decided to switch from Pathfinder to 5e (For various reasons). However I created a lot of variant material for Pathfinder as a foundation for my campaign setting. I will be adapting some of this to 5e, but I thought i would post up what I created for anyone interested in adopting any parts of it for their own setting or campaign.

I re balanced the core races and restructured them as well as expanded them up to 30. No level adjustment. Most of the core races varied in "Race Point builds" from 8 to 14. Now all the races are between 9 and 12 "Race Points".

I adapted a Spell point system I found somewhere on the internet, and fixed some flaws and added variant rules (using half your spell points makes you fatigued for example).

I MASSIVELY changed the skill list. I added a lot of new skill checks/uses, brought back the 2nd ed stealth skills, and new social skill chains. One of my more favored pieces of work I have done.

I cut the class list down to cut down on overlap on redundant character classes. And made changes to them to fit with the new skill, magic, and weapon group feat changes. I never got around to completing the backgrounds.

Oh, and i started to expand the basic armour list, but never finished it.

And the crown jewel, the race list.

Honestly its just the Race and Skill list that is complete and can be taken and dropped into another campaign. The class chapter has the starting skill points and class skills modified for the new skill list, and would need to be used to add the skill list.

I want you to know that I mean this from the bottom of my heart, and I want you to take this in the best possible way. If I could kidnap you and surgically switch brains with you, I would.

As for anything constructive to add, I have nothing. But I guess I will ask as to why you chose to ax certain of the martial classes?

Kaptn'Lath

HaHA! thank you... I think. lol. I didnt focus on martial classes to cut, most of them are still there. Barbarian and Fighter are untouched. The cavalier uses the Samurai variant, and was renamed the Knight if used in a western setting. Gunslinger is just crap as a class. I rather use a fighter with a musket. Paladin is classified as a martial Divine class. Ranger as a martial Tradition class, and the monk as a martial Social class. Magus... well, i don't like hybrid classes, i rather a player multi class (same goes for the Inquisitor). But the martial classes are still there, i just reorganized them.

I've always thought it was kind of weird to put gunsmen into their own class. Why not just have a fighter that specializes in firearms?

So which Artificer did you use? I've been through the 3rd party material and I think there are at least two

This one, i like that it works similar to the the core alchemist. both make items that create spell effects. the alchemist makes potions that effect only him, while the artificer makes items that can effect other people. Plus i like the steam punk feel of the class. Its not perfect as written but a few minor tweaks and its very usable and balanced.

And one of my all time favorite characters i played in PF was a cavalier with the musketeer and luring cavalier archtypes (no overlap) with the Order of the Cockatrice who used a musket. They guy was based off of Joxer from Zena the Warrior princess. Believed in himself sooooo much. Gave himself an ever expanding list of deeds and titles. Started off as a level 1 character and was of course not THAT great. But he was so full of bravado, two of the other party members though the GM allowed me to create a higher level character. (a couple well needed crits helped cement that idea). The party would defeat an Ogre, so he called himself a "giant slayer". He slept with a small village prostitute, and became "the ladies man". any town they stopped by and did a small side quest he would be come "the hero of Achendale" ect. Basically anything the party accomplished TOGETHER he would take the credit for. By the third session, the dice turned against me and the character was exposed as the sham that he was. By level 5 though, he was legitimately the party leader, and started living up to his bravado.

Other than Infusions being called "weird science", Artificer is basically the same class as in Eberron 3.5, so that pleases me greatly.

Oh one thing I was going to mention. I really dig your races chapter, and that clearly took a lot of time to figure out. Although if you're looking for a steampunk class Gearhead from Pure Steam is cool.
