[ooc]Happy Halloween everyone! Figured I might as well share something for the holidays.[/ooc]

Eff, the Wontabulous World of Esprits
Primary Ideas: Pet Monsters/Whimsical Lovecraft
Rules System: No Idea
Era: Hard to say: Think Renaissance Italy, meets Dr. Seuss's paintings
Magic Influence: Idiocognisifable Science: The world of Eff runs on it's own internal logic. The Stupopulatorious Sniffelog, an ancient and incombabbable being that if the ancient heirogramicals are to be believed, basically turned the worlds ecosystem blurbgostric (an ancient scholism word that means "inside out, over and under, and just plain wackogniscint), and began to transmorphilize the creatures and plants to it's own uniquickal vision. Now Esprits, which fall under the following categorms of Beasals Floraphs, Arhropobles Phantasmicals, Faybies, and Homoncunisms
Technology Influence: Davincipunk, Biopunk?, clockpunk?
10 Words: Seussian, Lovecraft, Pokemonesque, Davinci, Exploration, Whimsical, Renaissance,
Races: Humans, Esprits, ?
Gods/Cosmology: It's been proven that there are such things as souls, and there is a place they go to once you perish. However the notion of what constitutes a God is still up in the air.

[ic]Eonicals ago, in the ancient world of Eff, there was once what our ancestors would call "normalcy". Normalcy was when everything had a proper place. Beastals had their kingdoms, and the humans built their way to kinghood. Man stood on top of all, and the greater beastals stood on top of the lesser beastals, and those lesser beastals stood over the floraphs, and the floraphs did not speak for they could not. Heck the Floraphs just stood there doing nothing but eating sunlight. It's hard for us to imagine a floraph just sitting there isn't it? Then one day, the great one appeared in our skies. The Stupopulatorious Sniffelog is a great spherorical organible mass in the sky that orbits around our grand world of Eff as a moon, and has one eyeball that constantly watches down on us. With his imprescable powers of transmorphilization he began to blurbgostricize the ancient order of our life spheroricle. The whales began to fly from the oceans, and the wolves began to breathe fire, and the cows began to grow limbs, and the trees began to speak, and the flowers began to walk, and the spirits of our loved ones began to make their presence known, etc, etc

Eonicals later, we now stand upon our glorificant world in an age of great enlatablement. We have learned to tame the Skales of the Skies, and the Flanines and all manner of Esprits, as we have come to call the creaturicals that were transmorphilized by the Sniffelog, and now stand upon a great age of esprit and human unity. We travel by Skales, and our beastals protect our homes, the Floraphs help us grow and protect our croppals, and so on, and so on. However there is much to be done my young pupents, so will you brave the wilds of Eff? Glorificent! You may pick from one of these esprits, and begin your adventure into the uncognisifable world of Eff!

As the good Proffesable explained above, this world is a bizarre yet wonderful place with an extremely warped ecosystem. Animals have been twisted and changed into super-powered beasts with great potential, many plants have been granted sentience and the ability to move around on their own accord, ghosts began to be formed from the souls of the dead, and after many centuries of experimenting, the humans of Eff have figured out how to create artificial life from wood, steel, clockworks etc. etc. And there are also some Humans that have also been warped by the Sniffelog, and they are often tied to the powers of nature, elements, etc, etc, but they just lack a certain human characteristics, and don't quite have the same potentials of humans.

Seuss+Lovecraft. Great combo, and fun, whimsical execution. Good job with the words.

Thank you! I apologize for not responding sooner, but Halloween duties called. I'm still working on a couple of write-ups for this. But for now I'll just acknowledge a couple of things.

My Problems with the Pokémon Games, and What I hope to accomplish with this setting in regards.

So the great debate between Poke'fans and animal rights activists has been whether or not Pokémon battling is cockfighting. For me the answer to this question is a very layered one. #1 on the issue is are Pokémon animals? If not it's reasonable to say not really which is the case with the Anime. Pokémon display a great degree of self-awareness so it's not really fair to compare them to animals, in the Anime. Pokémon has also shown that it's a completely symbiotic, conditional relationship in the anime. Pokémon leave and return to their pokeballs of their own free will, in the anime. Pokémon who aren't satisfied with their trainers leave their said companions in search of more competent trainers who know how to deal with them, in the anime. Oh sure, there are examples in the show of cruel training methods, but those aren't abundant. In the games on the other hand... For one thing you're basic source of income is battling Pokémon and receiving winnings from fallen opponents which is already on the nose, and there is absolutely no repercussions for neglecting your Pokémon.

I am buying Pokémon Moon on day one, and I'll tell you why. These are the first Pokémon games in a long time, that actually do world-building and rebuild and renew game mechanics. Poke-ride is the perfect example of what I want from Pokémon. It takes the HM mechanism,, and gives the world a better connection with it's theme through the mechanism itself. For eons of games we've been hearing nothing from people except about how awesome Pokémon are.. Will where are they???? The world is so unbelievably segregated. All there are is towns with a few people in them, and Pokémon inhabited environments everywhere else. Why aren't there more displays of the practical uses of Pokémon? why are their boats when you could literally just breed an army of Lapras's and Wailords to ferry people across the oceans? Why are there cars when you could have a company that breeds dragons to fly people across the continent? There are so many ingenious uses for Pokémon that you probably wouldn't need hyper advanced technology like they have. Psychic Pokémon could mind-link with other psychic types and act as a psionic telephone service for cities, there are several pokemon that are effective healers, and why are there bulldozers and digging equipment in this world, when there are giant rock snakes that can be tamed and drill through the ground at fifty miles an hour??? Poke-ride answers this by having a public travel service where you have a pokeball that immediately summons a fully trained beast that can take you across whatever terrain you're hoping to cross. There you go instant world building. Don't need a bike anymore, when you have a Tauros.

Sorry that got a little ranty. But now to get back to Eff

So how do I plan on remedying my problems with Pokémon and applying them to Esprits?

The Pokémon game doesn't need to fundamentally transform itself into something else to satisfy me. It just needs to take what it already has established and build on it. The happiness system would be a great place to start. Take what's already there, but also add a dissatisfaction end to the meter. Pokémon who evolve by being happy still evolve by being at maximum happiness, but now all Pokémon must be at a certain level of satisfaction in order to obey you, and if you hit a certain level of dissatisfaction they run away from you, and to add insult to injury, they find your rival and start working with them to kick your butt in.

Will I plan on implementing a system where whenever you make a mistake with your esprit in Eff they will become more irritable to you, and the better you treat them the more loyal they are to you, but it's not easy to deal with them at first. So It feels like an actual challenge to be handling these superpowered monsters.

As for what I was saying about technology that's where the Davinicipunk comes in. The world is at a renniasance level of technology, but that doesn't really matter because Esprits make up the difference. There are monorail carriages powered primarily by giant rodents running around power wheels (This exists in real life for the record), and there are Skales which carry large amounts of people across the skies (Something like this). These examples of Espritological Engimatics is only the tip of the iceberg of this world. But I'm still thinking that through.

Esprits in the World of Eff

Espritologists have recognified at least five categorms that Esprits fall under, which are Beastals, Floraphs, Faybies, Phantasmicals, and Homuncubles. The first three categorms comprise of Organables which decendualized from the transmorphilized animals, plants, and some humans that once inhabited the world of Eff, and have branched off to form several families of Esprits. Phantasmicals are transmorpholized spirits, and are the most mysterbulating of the five categorms

Beastals come in several categorms and putting a Beastal in these subcategorims is rather tedious and takes research.  Beastals divirgified from the animals of Eff that existed before the Sniffelog transmorphilized the world fundamentally. Therefore Beastals come in many different varieties and fa

While all organisms on Eff were altered by the Sniffelog, not all are of similar dispobulation: Usually Esprits have four categorms of Eprit behaveurums.

Placidual Esprits: A surprising number of Esprits are just not that useful to man. While they have abilities, they aren't extraordinary, and merely exist in the wild. Many make good pets though.

Offenmiable Esprits: While most Esprits are relatively harmless, there are quite a few that have been gifted with powers that elevate them above most of the food chain. Most of these creatures have been proven to have at least some level of self awareness, and have behaveurums that allow them to be trained for protecting humans and fighting fellow esprits.

Domestacable Beastals: Many Esprits are very strong and can carry much wait without wavering. There are a number of Esprits with the correct Dispobulition that allows for them to be bred for labor and hard work.

Feralious Beastals: Some Esprits are just not meant to be tamed or bred for human use, and are quite dangerous. Many of the reasons why having at least one esprit that is capable of defending your character is due to feralious Esprits in the wild.
