So, I've seen it time and time again, such a sad thing...  Once helpful and prominent members of the community, drifting outwards to the fringes, left only to lurking like a cold nubcake outside a train station...

Or maybe not.  I'm making this thread for no reason I can think of, other than that I need a place to declare my good intentions, and provide a place for others to do the same.  Why haven't you posted lately?  What has driven you away from the comforting tavern chatter of the CBG?  Is it too mentally stressful, are you lazy, are you simply afraid you won't be accepted?  Well, post here and tell this friendly icosahedron your excuses, and he'll smile and nod like the rest.  Who knows?  Maybe we can even convince each-other to put forth a little bit of effort, and spark a fire in our souls which might rekindle the great Flurry-of-posts which lit up the Guild in the past, and surely will once agian in the new year.

to those of you with social anxiety disorders: when he says he'll smile and nod like the rest, he doesn't mean it in the way that makes you wonder what his true intentions are...

i don't think, anyways....

Speaking as someone diagnosed with social anxiety disorder, I'm going to clarify that I will smile and nod in precisely that manner, purely for the undiluted entertainment that would provide.

I don't have any disorders of that kind, though I'm certainly not the most noble person and some of the traits that make me less than chivalrous probably contribute to my lack of posting on some occasions. Most of the time I don't post just because I'm not bored enough to do so or don't have anything to say that hasn't already been said. Despite how much I like world building and somewhat like roleplay, they're not near the top of my list for fun things to do.

do we judge posting amount by quantity (in which case, theres a spam thread), quality (in which case, two or three posts might do, if theyre reeaallly good posts), or some unknown formula involving both (quantity X quality?)

on the social anxiety, ive been diagnosed with it, too, so i'm familiar with the smile and nod. actually, i find, personally, that it has less power once you realize that it isnt so much your reaction as it is the disorder's reaction.

I promise I post, honestly I will, as soon as I get enough to post...

I have a habit of starting things and never finishing them, so when it comes to posting on the CBG, about 80% of all posts I set out to write never see completion.  If I did finish as many as I'd like, I'd have about five times as many posts under my belt.

The CBG is still my favourite online community, and a lot of the time I just lurk and watch out for posts from my comrades.

I only post when ive got something worth saying that hasnt already been said previously, also i find i have the same problem that salacious has
In regards to my campaign setting every time i want to post it i find something else i want to encorporate into it and thats normally a fairly big rewrite so i never have enough to post

And therein lies my problem.  I swear, I have rewritten the first post to my setting thread so many times since I first posted it... >.<

Ah, the age old question. I know for me it is family obligations that have come up with my son on the way. Hopefully more time will free up to do some reviews and work on my own game. Only time will tell.

I'm just selfish. Since I'm now running a game, my efforts are focused on more pressing matters like what the heck I'm gonna do now that my players are on the run from the local authorities, and how I maintain my regular role-play-centric style with a group of seven players and a 4 hour limit to game.

I also have two very new players with no D&D experience, and one vet that has never played 3.0 or 3.5, so they need my help regularly. Luckily the rest of them know what's going on at least.

Oh, and two of players are married and expecting (about 3 months to go), and a third is very soon to be a new daddy himself. I'm struggling to hold things together with a nice tight storyline, and yet remain flexible enough to accomodate the inevitable need for certain people to take a temporary hiatus.

Oh, and one of my players is an aspiring author, and he's chroncling the adventure in story format, so there is added pressure to make it interesting enough for his book...which I am also likely to co-author since he's falling desperately behind.

Basically I have my hands full elsewhere, and sadly the CBG is just not on the priority list as far as my gaming is concerned. I still read/lurk and post occasionally when I can contribute something short and sweet, but in depth debate, review, and new contributions seem almost impossible at the moment.

It was much easier to post regularly when I lacked people to actually play with.
