[Poll] Help Name Some Races

Seeing as you're not directly using any of my suggestions I think I'll reserve "Faelen" for my personal use, if I end up putting a feline species into my world.

After reading your info about beast-marked being literally marked, I'd go with that name, at least in what other races call them.  Perhaps they call themselves enoc (but that's a variant spelling of Enoch, so where did you find it?)

I kind of like piscine for aquatic-folk.  It seems in keeping with your other race names.  Although, I do have merfolk and use that term (I'll probably keep it, since it's from mythology, or close), so make of it what you will.

I'm still seeking aid on what to call certain subspecies, namely the following:

Felid subspecies:
Cheetahfolk
Jaguarfolk
Leopardfolk
Lionfolk
Ouncefolk
Pumafolk
Tigerfolk

Anuran subspecies:
Frogman (or is this okay?  technically they're all frogmen)
Hulk

Saurian subspecies:
Chameleonfolk
Gatorfolk
Geckofolk
Horned Saurians
Vanarfolk

I don't want to simply call something like tigerfolk tigers, because the real cat tiger is still present in the world.  So I'm kind of uncertain what a good name for these are.  I don't want to just make up random words, either, though.

So, I could
1) Add the suffix -id
2) Add the suffix -oid
3) Keep the "folk" description, though I agree with Meepo in not really liking it
4) Use a variant of the scientific name
5) Some other option I'm missing?

I see the obvious con of "-oid" as being it could silly.  "Cheetoid" sounds like a snack food, and "tigroid" just sounds painful.  I don't know how much better "-id" will be.  "Lionid" sounds okay, I guess.

Some scientific names would work well, e.g. "leos" for lions, while others are not recognizable (is this a problem?), e.g. Acinonyx jubatus for cheetahs.

So, some votes would be helpful.

For frog types, you could use a variant of batrachia, which is the root for the various suborders of Anura. One game system I played in used Batrag as the name for a frog-like race, based on this source.

In fact, a lot of the scientific names could probably be used with only minor modifications like that for various types. Some of them are fairly recognizable, like Panthera tigris and Panthera leo. Others are broader and give lots of choices - chameleon is a family Chamaeleonidae with genera like Furcifer and Rhampholeon. Wikipedia really is your friend here if you want to go this route.

Random Wikipedia fact: Ultraviolet light is actually part of the visible spectrum for Chameleons.

I like batrag.  Thanks, this is very helpful.  That's how I got a few names, like vanar-folk in the first place.  Maybe I can modify it a bit.  I was never thrilled with that name, because it sounds too much like vanara from Hindu myth (important in myth setting).
