Things You Probably Shouldn't Think About... #397:

...Because otherwise life made sense.  This time: Centaurs.

"Centaurs?  Why centaurs?" you might ask.  Simple.  Centaur's bodies make no sense anatomically.

Here is a comparative look at the anatomy of the respiratory system.  On the left, a human.  On the right, a horse, of course.





So, then, do centaurs have their organs in the human portion?  If so, how do their tiny little organs keep up with the rest of the body?  And what's in the horse part?  What if the organs are in the horse portion?  That's a stupidly long trachea (in both animals, we've already got miles of intestine, so it's whatever).  Both?  And what's with female centaurs having boobs?  Are those too only on the human part?

Who knows.

The only thing that we know here -and that makes sense- is that none of this makes any sense when you start to think about it.

So, friends, stop thinking.

Centaurs have lungs in the horse torso and breathe through spiracles in their armpits. Most of the human torso is actually filled with bizarre reproductive organs that most of the time stay tucked behind the belly button. There is an entire religion that exists solely to thank whatever god thought to keep that stuff safely hidden away. That and to keep the rest of us blissfully ignorant of the situation.

The breasts are only moderately less strange. They're just a cosmetic feature that may or may not appear on members of any of the three centaur genders.

Now you know, and knowing... induces SAN loss.
