yeah that'll go over well in a city of DRAGONS!

Dragonhunter: "I am looking for dragons."
Commoner: "Well you came to the right place this is the city of dragons. What is your business  with the dragons if I might ask."
Dragonhunter: "I plan to rid the world of the vile beasts. I am a dragon slay...."
*40 breath weapons later*: A charred, frozen, and melting corpse stands in place of the dragon hunter. Two of his companions have run as fast and as far as they can. While leaving one was heard saying "I'm glad he used I instead of we".

Actually it would take some retooling, but we could pull it off.

We're a bunch of assassins here to pull off the best hit in history; off an entire city of dragons!

...I like the dragon companion thing better.

If he bans true dragons, how about a pseudodragon? A pseudodragon rogue would kick ass, and you could pretend I'm your familiar or something...

Quote from: MittenNinjaPlaying true dragons may make things messy. I'm not all too familiar with the rules for it, plus there are way more half-dragons and dragontouched than true dragons. In the entire metropolis there are somewhere between 30 and 40 True dragons walking about. with a population of nearly 85,000 thats a vary small percentage.

As far as posting the material I have most of it all ready to go in website format and I'm just waiting for the hosting to become available again. But in the meantime here's the entry on Xian...
"Watch your step here young ones. You walk the streets with the oldest and most powerful creatures in all the land."
- Karth Ebonflame, Xian Dragon Guard

Xian has always had a long tradition of draconic heritage in it's history. It's royal bloodline is thick with dragon ancestry and has had many (and up until recently, exclusively) true dragons as it's lord. Lady Elsa however, is the first non true dragon to ever hold the throne. If it weren't for the fact that she is a direct descendant of Abalax, one of the greatest rulers in the city's long history, the skepticism of her taking the throne would have easily led to her demise.

Architecture:
The great dragon city is truly a sight to behold for those who look upon it. Beyond the gold and red walls and majestic standards over the golden gates that protect the city from the ravages of the Wasted Plains lie hundreds of sparkling spires with grand walkways connecting them to one another. Throughout the entire city there is hardly a structure that isn't directly connected with another nearby via walkway. The most impressive structure (and one of the few without direct access to surrounding structures) is the Maw. The Maw is the great towering palace where Lady Elsa and the other royalty reside. Atop the Maw resides it's most dominant feature, a large smokestack or sorts that is constantly bellowing out green gases which are vented from the Maw's alchemy labs (known as the greatest in all of Karis).

Demographics:
Xian is the only city in Karis where you are likely to ever run into a true dragon walking down the street browsing through the wares being sold in the market. For the most part all the true dragons that reside within the walls keep to humanoid forms as to not intimidate the smaller folk of the city. Humans make up the largest group of Xian's populace, but even so a large portion of them can trace their ancestry back to draconic roots. No race is shunned from the city and (especially since the Abyssal Wars) many people who originally lived in the surrounding areas flocked to the great city.

History:
Originally founded three hundred years before the start of the Abyssal Wars, Xian was a small merchant village populated by many individuals with ties to the draconic world. However, the villagers had unintentionally settled within the hills of Abalax's liar. Abalax was a great bronze wyrm who ended up taking interest in the dragon bloods that now inhabited his realm and offered his services as a protector in exchange for a small yearly tribute in wealth. Not willing to pass up the protection of a powerful dragon the citizens of Xian quickly accepted.

Through the years Xian's populace grew, and so did the city's draconic influence. Within 50 years of it's founding, Xian already had 8 true dragons among it's citizens. The city was gaining popularity as a gathering place for all those with draconic heritage. Dragons of all walks came to share information with their peers (and barter their services for tribute to those who would seek them out).

At the start of the Abyssal Wars Abalax was now the first Lord of Xian, and as the infernal armies marched he personally led the defense of his people. Abalax managed to fend off the forces of three abyssal lords before his life was taken in the midst of battle. After seeing their lord fall to the powers of the lower planes, Xian's forces rose with a vigor unseen by man, they held the lines for two solid weeks while reinforcements were en route. After hearing of Abalax's fall, dragons from all walks came to Xian to help rid the city of the plague that had arrived.

The years of the war were long and hard, 21 lords and ladies of Xian fell to the hordes of the abyss during the 100 year siege of the city. The 22nd Lord of Xian, Carrick the Vigilant, a silver dragon of immense valor saw the city through it's final days of war. Carrick then saw the city through it's regrowth. Conscripting the building of many of the structures that are present to this day, including The Maw. After the city was rebuilt in all its golden glory Carrick stepped down from the throne knowing that he was a leader of a warring nation and not a lord for peaceful times. He handed the throne to Lady Elsa, a human female directly descended from the first Lord of Xian, Abalax.
Stargate525

What was that?

Anyway, I've decided to go with the pseudodragon, unless MittenNinja won't allow that.

Poseidon, I'd still love to see something made of that first idea we had, but I'm not quite certain how that'll go down now. If you want to drop it, that's fine too, but lets see if we can't figure something out.

Psuedodragons are cool.

And sorry guys, I've thought about it and I'm going to have to say no to true dragons.

Rock on.

Poseidon, do you still want to have some sort of backstory concerning both our characters? I'm open to whatever, but if you're willing to be an arcane caster, it would be interesting to have me as a former (or perhaps current) familiar. Just a thought.

MN, I'll list off what I think are the stats, let me know if these are off;
*-4 str, +4 dex, +2 con, +2 wis
    *tiny
*speed: 15ft.; 60ft. flight speed (good maneuverability)
    *+4 natural armor bonus
    *Blindsense 60 ft.
    *darkvision 60 ft.
    *immunity to sleep and paralysis
    *low-light vision
    *spell resistance 19
    *telepathy 60 ft.
    *sting(poisoned) and bite attacks
    *LA +3
Will you allow me to make use of the LA buyoff rules in the SRD?
Poison (Ex):Injury, Fortitude DC (12+Con mod), initial damage sleep for 1 minute, secondary damage sleep for 1d3 hours. The save DC is Constitution-based and includes a +2 racial bonus.

Telepathy (Su):Pseudodragons can communicate telepathically with creatures that speak Common or Sylvan, provided they are within 60 feet. I was thinking that since I can't actually speak, that me learning a language is being able to use this with someone of that language.

Skills: Pseudodragons have a chameleonlike ability that grants them a +4 racial bonus on Hide checks. (In forests or overgrown areas, this bonus improves to +8.)
and my ability rolls... I won't be doing here, since I have horrible luck with them... I got 15, 17, 10, 16, 11, 8. Tell me if that's all right.

Don't forget the racial hit dice. Other than that looks right. And as far as the telepathy goes, learning languages would allow you to communicate with other beings. At least that's how I'd rule it.

Stargate525

racial hit dice?  :?:

The creature in the MM is advanced to two hit die, but I couldn't find a reference saying a PC would require racial hit dice... It's quite possible that I'm wrong, but is there something I'm missing?
My Setting: Dilandri, The World of Five

yeah, thats the racial hit die. It's not advanced to 2HD, that's how much they start with. So effectively youd be a fifth lvl PC as a pseudodragon. +3 LA plus 2 racial HD = ECL5
