I think we need to be very wary of accepting a majority poll as "This is it," unless it's at least 2/3rds majority.  I don't think a 9-8 poll is a good idea of what people want, and it should be ignored until further discussion takes place.  Just my .02

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

Yep the tone poll looks like a dead heat, and when it's that close, too many people will be upset by a shift away from their vision. You've got a valid point Ishy...close votes indicate too much division.

I think we should let the voting go on for a few more days, but if it stays the same (basically just a 1-or-2-point lead in either direction), we should close off the voting and continue discussing pros and cons.

Túrin

I think this only goes for the earlier votes (such as the one you're referring to). In later stages, it will probably be more important to keep things going than trying to achieve perfect consensus. I don't think we'll be alienating people if we accept a 51% majority in a naming vote, for example.

"Then shall the last battle be gathered on the fields of Valinor. In that day Tulkas shall strive with Melko, and on his right shall stand Fionwe and on his left Turin Turambar, son of Hurin, Conqueror of Fate; and it shall be the black sword of Turin that deals unto Melko his death and final end; and so shall the Children of Hurin and all men be avenged." - J.R.R.
