For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

Ok peoples. I am working on this one. I do not want it to be like the last contest I entered. So get those entries in.

Quick question: I have a section of my campaign setting that would fit the bill, but I haven't fleshed out yet. If I am fleshing out this section now, is it ok to enter it? If not I have another idea that I had started on when the contest was announced that is not part of anything I was creating.

I suppose that would be fine.  I would like things to be kept as generic as possible, such as things like racial distribution, etc (you'll see why with next month's contest), but I can't imagine it would hurt if you have an area of your own world in mind that just isn't fleshed out yet.  Let's see if ElDo (or any of the other fine personalities here) have anything to say on the subject.

eh. Just to be on the safe side I'll use the idea I came up with when the contest was announced.

I'm going to suggest a little rule of thumb here, and say that entries should probably be able to exist and be appreciated, independently of whatever setting they may or may not be part of.

So if somebody wanted to write up the Forbidding Mountains of Xyr from their campaign setting to enter in this contest, that'd be okay... provided that the Mountains could stand on their own, without the rest of that setting backing them up. So I don't have to constantly keep referencing the setting to look up people and places mentioned in the contest entry, and so on. Bonus points if the Forbidding Mountains of Xyr can be dropped into just about any campaign setting and work as well as they do in their original habitat.

Then again, it may be that the Powers That Be desire wholly original content for these entries-- a decision that I do not think would be unreasonable or even particularly arduous.

LC's makes sense.  So, in that case, I expect to see some entries in the near future.

I have a lovely idea for an entry. Just gotta get it typed up.

What is the etiquette on entry posting? Specifically...

Should I go ahead and post as soon as I'm prepared, or wait until closer to the deadline? (I.e., is it bad form to post things early, or is it continued "lame" to wait and read other entries before posting your own, things like that.)

Should I wait until I am absolutely certain it's done before posting anything? Is editing an entry after its initial posting frowned upon?

You can edit as long as you want up until the deadline.  And we've only had a few writing-heavy contests thus far, so I don't think any particular etiquette or form has developed yet, but I have no problem with you posting early, or waiting until the very end.

In that case, I shall post as promptly as possible, to encourage other potential entrants to do the same.

(After all, they'll be filled to the brim with self-confidence after seeing my puny frontier! :) )

Also: What.

Quote3 - Some Necessary Includes:
    * At least one detailed adventure location in the frontier (
preferably with map, but that is not necessary).
[/list]

4b - Something NOT to include:
    * A map.
Please clarify. :?:

3 - A map of a particular adventure location (such as ruins, forest, etc)

4 - NOT a map of the entire frontier

I'm really sad that only one person is entering this contest.  Count this as a bump, just in case people have either forgotten, or simply don't know.

I don't think one person is entering. LC has said he has been working on his entry. I am working on one (Though with the little free time I've had lately it isn't going to be like anything like what is in my head. I will submit it anyway before the date is up. I just think it is really bad)

I am sorry Ishmayl. I'll try not to enter anymore contests. No one seems to enter when I plan on entering. :(

But I already posted my entry! :yumm:

Edit: You are correct, though: more people should totally enter this.
