Alright, my attempt at making a world out of the manga/anime "Bleach." If anyone watches/reads it and would like to help out, please do. FOr those of you who don't know, here's the lowdown:
Three worlds, the regular world (where we live), Soul Society (Pluses that die go, where Shinigami live), and Hueco Mundo(The world inbetween, where hollows live)

SHinigami are death gods, each has a zanpakuto(Soul slayer i believe) that is a manifestation of their power. They guide Pluses to Soul Society and kill Hollows
Hollows are corrupted souls with no heart (hole in the chest to show that)l they eat Pluses and humans with spiritual power.
Pluses are ordinary human souls that go to Soul Society.
Average lifespan in Soul Society is 2000 years, when they die there they are manifested back in the human world as a new life with no memories.

My thoughts are:
Characters are spiritually gifted humans (Quincy, Bounto, or just regular humans), Shinigami, or Hollows
Arrancar would sort of be like Liches from D&D.
Stats would be Strength, Intelligence, Spirit, and Agility
Intelligence and Spirit affect the spells you can cast, abilities you can use, and power of your zanpakuto.
It seems  that, in the manga/anime, people have a fixed spirit power. I do not like this, and would like it to progress.

Thoughts? Questions? Answers?

If you're playing epic, pause for a moment to laugh at WotC's farcical cosmic entity stats and move on. They aren't there to be taken seriously. Trust me. They aren't even suitable for use as avatars. -WotC Epic Boards, Epic FAQ

I'm sure there's going to be more to that, but would this be a SAME game, or D20 with collapsed stats?

On the fluff side, I hope you will not borrow names, characters, events and other cannon elements to the point where your sessions become a series of co-operative doujinshin, so as not to mess with cannon.
But if you'd like some help with plots (that don't involve any of the cannon characters) I'd be more that willing to throw a few at you. (Do the "gods" actually appear on screen? Or are they just mentioned in passing?)

Sory for my noobyness, but what's cannon? The events from the show/book? I'm just setting up a world that people can play in at any time period. If a DM wants to have his characters run into Ichigo or Rukia or someone, thats his choice, or if his players want to play as the characters, thats fine by me. However, the campaign I will be running will be taking place in the past, when the Quincy are more numerous.

You got the meaning of cannon right on.

English speakers like to make up lots of synonyms so that we can use the same idea over and over again repeatedly without saying the same word so often that the conversation stagnates into an endless loop of déjà entendu.

In other words, you don't get stuff like Desu Desu Desu.

Well, I'm sort of basing this all on spiritual stuff, like Bleach is. So its gonne be kinda hard to work out stats. I'm thinking that it won't be like D&D classes, levels will be more based on your spirit power. Shinigami, for example, will have something like military rankings as levels, and in order to get to the next one you need exp(killing stuff and doing stuff) + skillystuff (Example: Captain rank would require bankai + 6th level spells + 4th level chantless spells or sumthin like that)
