Sadly, probably Belgareth, though Gandalf is a lot cooler.  But I think we see Belgareth throwing out really insane magic at some points during the series, particularly in his duel with that fallen apostle or whoever, and Gandalf's magic is mostly more subtle and time-intensive.

You're challenged to a duel and given a choice of swords or pistols.  Which do you choose?

Elemental_Elfia, a theocratic dictatorship ruled by the Elemental_Elf, lord of all he surveys + 10 meters. The country would be a city state that focuses on fine arts, crafting and freedom of thought, except thoughts that lead down a terrible path of revolution. For that, I would have a legion of telepaths who listen to all thoughts ensure the populous have only good, clean thoughts.

Since my answer was odd, I re-ask the same question:
