That the same rules designed to reduce the role of the GM and to empower the player also destroyed the autonomy to create a consistent setting. Probably a bit of a mix. Thinking of centering it around a town sized settlement (about 200-800 population) perhaps along a trade route. That will allow for a constant flow of adventurers and merchants. The small size though lets it shift from urban to wilderness pretty quickly.

MMM.  can't ask you the questions I want on a thread with players...

Ninja D!

I'm in.

We'll see if anyone else wants to DM. I haven't played 3.5 in a long time and I'm going to be running a GURPS campaign soon or I would.

Seraph

If there ended up being enough to form a group 2, I think I'd be interested.

Nomadic

Ok I can work with this. I have a map done and thanks to several people an idea of the local environment as well as trade and prominent groups. I think I can have a city thrown together by tomorrow and some campaign stuff shortly after. So stick around.

Polycarp

If a second group gets together, I would be interested in this.

It looks like there's enough interest for a Group #2, however it would still need a GM. If any one wants the post, they can have it.

Nomadic

Well that's enough for another group. We will see how things go. I may or may not be willing to run both at once. If I do you guys can expect to run into one and other from time to time. If another GM can pick you all up that would be awesome. If not... well it depends but I might be able to do it myself.

If I had any experience with play by post, I would volunteer. However seeing as I am a complete PBP virgin, I wouldn't do well.

Perhaps Group 2 (or 1 or both) could have subsidiary GMs who could fill in for you, the Main GM, when you aren't able to post often and/or need a break... Essentially, you would be the Meta GM, head of the whole project, while the subsidiary DMs would be people who run side ventures and things you delegate to them.

EDIT: To waylay any feelings of being 'lesser' I think we should rename the groups - Group Red and Group Gold.

If I play as a commoner named Dennis...

Who was 35 but looked older...

And who looked a little like a woman...

And was an anarcho-syndicalist...

Would that be cool?

Sure.

Just a note, what kind of naming conventions are we looking at?

I think I will be 'Tarr Stoneminer,' Dwarf Commoner!
