Here is an update, I haven't forgotten about this, just been busy developing my style and working on my own setting map... anyway here is an update, land form and relief.I am a little hung up on the rivers right now but i am tired and my eyes hurt and i will come back to this again.

What do you think Vreeg?

Nice map.  Reminds me of northern England and Scotland with a vestigial Ireland.  You all do far better work than anything I've managed on a pc.
This technique of roleplaying has been passed down the Bloodmoon line for generations!

That's a really cool style, would you mind explaining your process?

Well first off, it is beautiful, and also shows a very unique and definite style, which is hard to do in the world of cartography.  I am flattered you have used Celtricia to hone your craft, and I will try to use the deep data pool it has developed to make corrections.
Color wise, the shading is a little weird.  The northern parts need a little more green, as the temperature zone up near Miston is more like middle Canada.  And since Celtricia (as a planet) is about *2.5 earth, the equator is actually still south of all of Argus, (it runs through Togford, Strakford, and Elpern).  Middle Southern Argus has some very dry steppes, but that is slightly south of where your map touches.
Southern, that area is almost all verdant green.

ok perfect, there is alot of reading for me to do to get all the details (though I have been reading more and more lately) so a simple overview like that is perfect. How picky are you on having your rivers flow exactly as shown or can i play with them a bit? not so much moving them but adding small tributaries from the mountain valleys... Are the mountains snow capped for any of the map? if they stop about where (on the map) would the mountains no longer keep their caps.

@ Ish - I am still figuring out the how i want to do rivers, which is a major step and how i want to do towns. Once i figure it all out and finish Vreegs map in the process i will write a tutorial.

Short Hand Version - Used Vreeg's hand drawn map to get the coastal outline. Filled the land with 50% Grey and Used the burn/dodge tool to lighten and darken areas. Light for mountains dark for river drainage valleys (Picture ONE). Took that gray scale image to the program Wilbur and after some time eroded the hell out of the first image and turned it into Image TWO. Back in Gimp i used a simple White-Green-Tan Gradient to fill the land shape top to bottom. Added a Cloud layer overlay to break it up. Imported image TWO as a layer, and bump mapped it (turns the height field into a relief)after deleting all the black. Set the bump mapped layer to VALUE (VERY IMPORTANT) This "overlays" the relief but lets the ground colour come through clearly. Then i use another copy of the image TWO set to overlay to add some definition to the relief. hehe like i said i will write a proper tut when i figure the rest out... :)

Thanks, and there coming. This is just the relief for the mountains/hills... the forest will go on top once i cut away the rivers.

New Update. still W.I.P

Is the River Locations O.K? I know their a little different than the original, but i wanted to add tributaries and make the rivers flow more "realistically", but i think i am set on the rivers just need an O.K on them.

Nice but you should be glad this wasn't posted on the CG or the river police would be knocking on your door. you have a river branching between two lakes, both of which empty into the ocean. This is impossible in reality. If you made that part then now you know. If vreeg had it like that on his map... then shame on him!

Yeah, Lath, this looks fantastic.  I am just incredibly impressed.

I don't have my world maps with me, but I know that I need the 2 rivers that fork into the South of Trabler are unfotunately critical.

Ok Good to know about the Rivers near the Trabler Forest. This is the Map that i am using as referance. Seeing the River Police in actions since wayyyy before they were official at the CartoGuild, is what is forcing me to try to change the rivers (along with melding the rivers into the mountains i have generated). The river that starts in the mountains to the east of Castle Ellis, the splits and joins the same river at two different points later is high unlikely as well, my jedi training is making me want to make it one river. I still need to figure out how to do the delta between Gotipan and Hobyt Inn, and i will make the rivers near Trabler more true to the original.

Also would you like me to clean up the trees? Naturally i bleed my forests out from mountains (I live on the Pacific Northwest about 150m from the Ocean in a Fjord like area) but you have very clean manicured (European) forests, would you like me to clean is up and use less "extra wood"?

LAth, first off, thank you for asking me.  Celtricia has evolved into a quarter-century odyssey for me, and so it carries a lot of emotional baggage.  I hope you know your stuff is so good you are convincing me to dig out my older maps...
The northern grey march forests look great, but Trabler's wooded areas are much more delineated.  The Asttrikon Forest, in northern Trabler, needs to have the Tiche Plains south of it.  The Bright Lands have a large sward of plains in their center, while the Delta of the Ambrettus River is actually bracketted by mountains.
