Eclipse

Sad news:

As Nov. 6, I will not be playing World of Warcraft. The reason is primarily financial: without any income and a rather large credit card debt, I cannot justify $15 a month on any game. I hope to be back soon - once I have an income again, I'll be buying prepaid game cards. However, I don't know when that will be.

In the meantime, I plan on getting the most out of my remaining days. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up. :)

I took a trial of WoW and it was really fun, and I liked it. I'm not one to get addicted to games, so I wasn't worried about that. Its just to expensive.

Xeviat

See, I don't understand the "expensive" concern. I've been a gamer since as far as I can remember. Ever since I got a job I've regularly bought a game (50-70 bucks) each month, sometimes more. So paying 40 bucks (original and expansion) and another 40 for the new expansion, plus 15 a month, is less than me buying a new game every month.

Heck, just looking at my book shelf, I spent more money on 3E books that I didn't get much use out of than I have on WoW.

I mean how many other games can you get so many hours of play out of as an MMO? Sure, I played Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 at least 5 times through each, but it's not a game that continues to grow.

MMOs can be boring if you're alone, but this last month playing with Eclipse and Brainface and my roommate have been the best times I've ever had on an MMO. I'm just getting frustrated with Twinks, that's all.

Good point. See, the thing is, i'm a minor. So as of now, its to expensive for me. D&D books are also to expensive, but I don't have to pay monthly for them.

anyone still playing this?

[spoiler The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins]In the middle of the earth in the land of the Shire
lives a brave little hobbit whom we all admire.
With his long wooden pipe,
fuzzy, woolly toes,
he lives in a hobbit-hole and everybody knows him

Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
He's only three feet tall
Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
The bravest little hobbit of them all

Now hobbits are a peace-lovin' folks you know
They don't like to hurry and they take things slow
They don't like to travel away from home
They just want to eat and be left alone
But one day Bilbo was asked to go
on a big adventure to the caves below,
to help some dwarves get back their gold
that was stolen by a dragon in the days of old.

Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
He's only three feet tall
Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
The bravest little hobbit of them all

Well he fought with the goblins!
He battled a troll!!
He riddled with Gollum!!!
A magic ring he stole!!!!
He was chased by wolves!!!!!
Lost in the forest!!!!!!
Escaped in a barrel from the elf-king's halls!!!!!!!

Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
The bravest little hobbit of them all

Now he's back in his hole in the land of the Shire,
that brave little hobbit whom we all admire,
just a-sittin' on a treasure of silver and gold
a-puffin' on his pipe in his hobbit-hole.

I haven't been playing for a while, having to conserve money.

out of curiosity... what level, race, and class are your main characters (for those that play)?

Mason

I just started. Im a troll mage 15th. Actually I don't really like the game, theres just nobody playing any tabletop RPGs around here this summer.

Acrimone

I had a 70th level Night Elf Rogue that I used to play a lot on the Scarlet Crusade server... I mostly just did PvP and hung out with my friends.  I wasn't going to sink money into the new expansion, though... at some point the ice cream eating contest has to stop, so I put my account on hold and haven't looked back.

Hooper

I used to play (world champion at uselessness, seriously: wowinsider.com search "Venwe")

I'll be back because I said the only thing that could bring me back was them finally letting me past the wall to see Gilneas, and they're doing it in the expansion.

I'm huge on exploring.  Played back in the beginning been to Designer Isle and GM Isle and all the other spots - but could never get into Gilneas.

Upside-down Sinners was such a fun place to see.

Elemental_Elf

Just started playing again. If anyone's on 'The Venture Co.' server, horde side, look up Frannz or Eralightpike :)
