Hehe, could be cool yes.
I have been considering to make demons obsessive compulsive; for example, they can't exit closed circles, or maybe they always pick left/right as we just talked about. This would help to explain some of the mystical symbolism that is often used in combination with them.

Perhaps because, due to the symmetry, the demon can't decide where to exit it- but with a broken circle it's obvious, and so becomes a micro-choice?

That might apply to any symmetry.

Okay, that situation might make demons slightly less fearsome than they are supposed to be. :p

Until the demon just kills them all simultaneously.  Or alternatively, uses its coin/die/spinny stick to decide.

Or one of them leans just a little bit the wrong way...

Quote from: WensleydaleI agree... your take on demons is pretty fascinating, actually. I'll have to think about this when I next look at summoned beings of a supernatural nature...

All I really have to add is things like:

Basic drives. Humans are very, very, VERY sex-oriented. Almost everything, when you get down to it, is about procreation, especially for males (not to be stereotypical or anything, but still) - impressing women and showing your dominance over other men. Other species may not be so focused towards sex, and may have other focuses instead.

Lifespan. If you have a lifespan of say, six-hundred years, then you'll probably not have such a great obsession with things like nations and wars - most nations for example, particularly in medieval times, did not have that kind of lifespan! Take a look at articles on things like the Kingdom of Mann and the Isles and the Lords of the Isles in Scotland, or even, for a more modern example, North and South Vietnam or Yugoslavia.

Pack mentality, symbiotic relationships, solitary mentality - humans are naturally herd-based animals, really - we gather into groups for defence etc. But some animals live only with their mates naturally, or in small hunting packs that are (at least from the romantic's point of view) much closer than human groups. How would this affect a sentient psyche?

If you want an interesting read concerning the content of this post, go to yoru library and check out a copy of Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Anison Heinlein.  It is about a boy raised by martians (who do not have dimorphic sex and have no human concept of time because when they die, they still exist, in a weird ambiguous way, as "Old Ones" that are sort of like ghosts, but not) and is returned to Earth.  It is a fascinating exploration of both how the human libido shapes our society and also what a sexless society might be like.
This technique of roleplaying has been passed down the Bloodmoon line for generations!
