What have you been working on lately, Campaign Design or Literature Related and what are your near term and long term goals?

To get the ball rolling...

[ic]
1. Dreaming of the Opium Drip
-Pulp Adventure in three eras, facilitating three distinct gameplay styles (Pulp, Dreamland, & Techno-Psionic-TimeTravel)

Current Status
-Playable.
Near Term Goals
-Finish encounters and Monsters
-Finish Stories to Tell (Groups/Organizations, Sample Adventures)
-Finish Character Creation (50% complete currently)
Long Term Goals
-Make sure the card system actually works.[/ic]

[ic]
2. Space RPG
-Like no other space game you have seen! More like a computer game or board game in RPG form. Absolutely no RPG analogue for what I am doing here.

Current Status
-100 page system document skeleton finished. Four playtests completed. Synthesizing notes and reworking Trade and Exploration systems.
Near Term Goals
-Finish Trade and Exploration Systems.
-Clear up a smattering of inconsistencies.
Long Term Goals
-Balancing and Playtest.
-$$ales (?)[/ic]

Nomadic

I've been working on the species writeups for Mare Eternus with a short term goal of getting them done and a long term goal of using them to run a no stats theater.

Scholar

i've been working on
1. fleshing out my rogue trader campaign and customizing some of the background
- finalising warp paths/jump point map
- putting some actual consept behind the weird hints i've been dropping

2. doing some concept writeups for an eventual after-the-end weird science fantasy campaign
Quote from: Elemental_ElfJust because Jimmy's world draws on the standard tropes of fantasy literature doesn't make it any less of a legitimate world than your dystopian pineapple-shaped world populated by god-less broccoli valkyries.

1. Revamping Messalan

My old setting (it has 8 years now) was to naïve when it first started and it had no originality (was the typical D&D setting). Many more mature, ingenious and conflicting ideas came over the years, so now I had to stop and see which things to keep and which not.

CURRENT STATE
Messy. Trying to make things plausible and coherent -accepting that magic and other fantastical things exist-

NEAR TERM GOALS
Define how magic works and the "perspectives" (how reality behaves based on what you believe) system.

LONG TERM GOALS
Have an interesting world, that is consistent and (oh my!) fun :D

Superfluous Crow

Oh, let me see...
I of course have my Broken Verge setting which is my main project. I'm currently just adding content to it in no particular order, although I'll probably start out with most of the countries. The long-term goal is to make a complete setting which I can be more or less proud of to have made. :)

Besides that I might look into making something more out of my old Ecumenopolis setting. But that was mostly just a vent for some of the ideas I couldn't fit in elsewhere.

Literary-wise I'm considering writing some short stories or perhaps some amateur philosophy, while constructing an idea for what could one day become the plot of a novel. Sadly, I'm not blessed with the greatest sense of perspective so might take a while for it to take form.

In the gaming branch I'm still contemplating the basic mechanics of a possible system and on the side I'm considering putting together a cardgame just for the hell of it.

Nomadic- about how long till that no stats theatre, do you think?

Crow- Fantasy novel, or something else?

How ever long it takes me to finish the species write ups. I'm currently working the equivalent of 3 jobs so free time is largely limited. However I've decided to do at least one thing a week so it shouldn't just languish.

Superfluous Crow

Light Dragon - The novel would probably be set in the Broken Verge universe, but the short stories might be a bit more mix-and-match.

3 MAIN THRUSTS RIGHT NOW---

    a) Ongoing work keeping up with the players in three areas (Miston, Igbar, and the ever-lovin' Steel Isle).  This includes ongoing plot, town detail, and minutia.  I enjoy the little stuff, creating named NPCs and Encounters.

    b) Finishing the skill list and then starting the heavy lifting---the writeups of the skills.  I might have to continue leaning on LLum and Nom to help me out here.

    c) Continue work on the Cults of Celtricia, within and without the normal church structure.

That the same rules designed to reduce the role of the GM and to empower the player also destroyed the autonomy to create a consistent setting. And more importantly, these rules reduce the Roleplaying component of what is supposed to be a \'Fantasy Roleplaying game\' to something else\"-Vreeg

CCrow- Really... I must say I am curious to see a short story set among Broken Verge's polluted coalfields. Will the stories be in English?

Vreeg, honest offer here. Would you like me to set up a PHP/MySQL database to manage and maintain your crunch stuff (skills, spells, guilds, charsheets, etc)?

Superfluous Crow

I'll probably wait with writing any Broken Verge-related fiction until I get the basics about the setting down on paper :)
Not that I don't have a picture in my mind, but it helps to turn that vague idea into something more solid.

I forgot to mention that I run some games as well. I run a game on an unexplored continent where the players follow the trail to an ancient superweapon. But half the players have run off to the US and England, so I'll be wanting to conclude that soon. Besides that some of my friends who have never played roleplaying games wanted me to run something for them.

CJ Short Term:
Keep working on the wiki such that my
progress page doesn't have too many glaring gaps in it.*Schedule a no-stats theater game.  I'm really been ready to do it for months, I just keep putting it off.  One of these days...*Do the super-short stories on a more regular basis, maybe around every two weeks or something.  Though it's hard to push that kind of thing - I either think of something or I don't.
CJ Long Term:
Run a serious battery of tests on Synergy (right now, the crunch counterpart of CJ).  Maybe enlist some help for this once I establish it as not completely broken (just
mostly broken).*Once that is done, begin actually applying crunch to fluff and vice versa.  Integration of the setting as something technically playable.*Make a regional map that isn't horrible.  A VERY long term goal.  A "heat death of the universe" kind of goal.
Also, I harbor a burning desire to launch another forum game.  Like the no stats game, I'm just waiting until the time is right (translation: procrastinating).

Polycarp, I'm interested to participate in CJ-based No-Stats Theatre, or in whatever game mechanics proofreading/playtesting you need done. The more I read of your setting, the more fascinated I become; seriously you've got more mojo in the Gheen/Ishkite/Tahro/Umbril pages than in tons of entire settings I've seen, including my own. So I'm taking notes.

[ooc]My computer died this week, so it's in the shop for repairs. Hopefully soon I can resurrect it and post soon from a zombie laptop, but until then I am posting from whenever/whatever I can.

Basically, this is going to delay some of my projects, and may convince me to hurry up and implement some "group participation" projects to compensate. Interest pending, of course.[/ooc]Pretty much everything I work on either starts as Jade Stage stuff, morphs into Jade Stage stuff, or dies off. [ic=Jade FATE]I'm making good progress on the FATE-based game mechanics for Jade Stage games. It's playable in its current state! I just need to make a few minor changes, mostly to clean it up, add examples, and make things easier to navigate and find. Primarily,
- aspect examples
- sample characters, and a walkthrough of character creation with a sample character
- missing flavor quotes for stunts[/ic][ic=Jade Stage]A lot of the fluff has been back-burnered until I can get the crunch under control. I still have to go in and fill out some basic pages: races, nations, all that sort of thing. Much of it is written down elsewhere, and just needs to be transcribed.

I really need to eventually do some fancy stuff, like draw and upload some maps, and some sketches of people and places, that sort of thing.[/ic][ic=Crowd Participation]I have some tentative plans to open up some of the Jade FATE process to you guys, if you're at all interested. This would involve some trial-run character generation, having you guys build some Jade FATE characters. Particularly awesome example characters and example aspects get added to the wiki, and hopefully the process will help get some more eyes on the mechanics to spot any potential problems.

Participants get familiarized with FATE and with the Jade Stage, so they're a step ahead when I finally get around to running a game. These would (probably?) lead in directly to eventual Jade Stage games run over IRC or maybe by post. (And hey, I know a lot of people just love building characters. I do.)

I was planning to delay this until I got some more work done with the setting and the mechanics, but I may start it sooner. I figure this might be a good way to keep momentum up while I don't have a computer of my own-- getting you fine folks involved.

If you think you might be interested in this, let me know and I'll set something up with instructions and examples. (Mainly I just don't want to post a big thread and get no response but the lonely sound of crickets.)[/ic][ic=Running Some Games]Of course, I eventually want to run some games! I would like to run a No-Stats Theatre game at some point, and I am also writing up some example FATE one-session games, which should be a great way to try out a variety of in-world venues and all sorts of different characters, as well as giving people a chance to try out the setting without having to make a regular, weekly committment to IRC.

My super-long-term plan involves running a regular, weekly Jade FATE IRC game: the kind with long plot arcs, character advancement, and a lot of juicy RP. But that's a long-term goal.

Hopefully when the time comes, you folks will join me for some of these games. I'll keep you posted on the details.[/ic]

Sarandosil

I haven't touched my stuff in a while, and don't plan to for however it long it takes out to sort some things in real life.

Abandonment/Forsaken: Plan for that is just to get all of what I have into my head onto the wiki before I forget most of it. Once that is done I want to rethink what I want to do with the setting. It was originally meant to be a rather generic setting for use with D&D, meaning no big crunch changes or anything, but I'm thinking of ditching that goal and just doing what I want with it.

Semi-long term, I want to flesh out the existing continent a bit more and finalize a history for every major country so that I can actually run a game in this setting.

Periri: I lost a ton of links to random generators I was planning on using for this when I formatted (forgot to back up my bookmarks), and haven't put in the effort to finding them again. Aside from that I also need to clean up the borders on the map, which I'm not too sure how to do, actually. Aside from those two, I just need to sit down and generate a country.
