Seeking ideas for an Elven Castle Town - map.

I know there are some "elf lovers" (I also know there are some who are not!), though I'm in the elf neutral camp. I'm creating a map of an elven castle town with a citadel against a cascading waterfall, with the town in the cliff enclosed lower canyon. Although there is an impressive castle, I'm looking at a community of 1,000 to 2,000 elves. I don't want it to be too big.

I'm guess I'm looking for trope elven ideas to create unique structures, gardens, etc. to create multiple encounter scale maps, perhaps even the entire town. Looking for shrines, arcane facilities, places of learning, crafter shops, etc.

I'm eventually considering this another commercial project, with the goal of creating an non-system specific elven community. A completely mapped region with accompanying key location and gazeteer.

Got any ideas?

For example - looking at wizard academies, rather than have a Sorcere or Hogwarts, I see multiple schools at different locations distributed across the town. One could be the Enchantry (Chantry of Enchantments). A structure and grounds for the practice of enchantment magic and fey influenced compulsion magic or glamour.

Perhaps a staff of non-elves dwell on the grounds having agreed to serve as test subjects for students, with protections for their safety and guarantees for a comfortable living on the grounds. Thus cottages lie within the Enchantry grounds.

Perhaps even the non-elf population of the town (I haven't named it yet, either...) could have their foreign district located here as well, "for the protection of the elven communtity..."

The Enchantry might be located in or near the artisans district where magic items are enchanted by the school staff and student body of masterwork items created in the same district.

The Enchantry would be the largest and most influencial institute of learning in the castle town.

Anyway, these are the kinds of ideas I'm looking for.

Once I get my 3D reference map complete for the entire town, I will begin to hand-draw it for something worth posting.

Maybe if you tell us more about your elves, we could help. Are they generic Alfsojar? High Elves? So on?

Even though I say "systemless" I am targetting the D&D/Pathfinder market, so high elves, would be the trope I'm shooting for.

What materials are available to them, just stone? White stone perhaps? A courtyard with symmetrically landscaped garden and grounds tiled to represent a mosiac of the elvish symbol would be nice.

Parapets, towers, the alchemists tower, the wizarding tower, the tower for royal family, the dungeons, and then feeding hall. Should there be a beer hall?
