The 7 Treasures

Hello, and welcome to my thread. This is mainly here for me to brainstorm and hopefully get feed back so I can build quicker and easier.
I hope to make this setting very unique and wondrous. Sorry i fail at brief intros.. xD

Table of contents
Post 1 - You're here.
Post 2 - World Info, Races
Post 3 - Magic, History
Post 4 - Misc. Things

So Far'¦

I Have a rough outline for what I want my setting to contain along with lots of random sniplets about misc things such as major locations around the worlds and rough govt. drafts for some countries.

Things I need feedback on.

Currently I'm mostly going the need work on the Races of my world along with (Possibly) Countries and Magic.
-I need to flesh out my races more beyond just the basics.
--This means mainly making the difference between Standard fantasy races large enough to make them unique in my setting.
-With the amount of races and land I know their will be a large amount of countries and wars so I need some help figuring out govt's. and how they work.(Im not to well versed in different Gov't types)
-I'm contemplating the amount of magic in my setting and the different sources for it, so far ive decided to have high magic content with a lot of casters. Magic will vary between treasures(Though all magics can be used everywhere)

The Worlds'¦

The worlds of my setting are each roughly 3 times the size of earth. They surround the sun in a circle and orbit at the same speed and distance from the sun.  Some of them have moons and others even share moons. Gravity is equal to earths for simplicity.
The most populated treasure

Elves, Humans and Orcs originated on this treasure.

Has 3 continents and many islands.

Steam began on Arannia and most of its major advances has also happened there, making it the most advanced treasure. Large steam trains travel cross country constantly and airships dot the sky around major cities.

Third most populated treasure and also the first treasure visited via teleportation.

Dwarves and Keziri Originated on this treasure.

Has a single continent and the landscape is very mountainous.

Teria is the largest producer of metals. It  provides atleast half of the metal for Arannia.

Second most populated treasure.

Second treasure reached via teleportation.

Have one un-named race that originated on this treasure. (Possibly two)
Races
A race of short humanoids averaging 4'6"-5', They have weak bones and develop little body fat only averaging 3-5%. They have feathered wings that  span twice their height roughly, They exhibit a unique ability to heat their bodies for days on end in the most grueling temperature. They also have very long life spans when compared to humans and other races of the treasures.

They live mostly in the mountainous regions of Teria and form large towns with very few small towns in between.  They are hunter/Gatherers primarily but do have the knowledge to farm if needed, however the size constraint that peaks put on them makes farming very difficult and implausible.

The second race contacted by humans, they have formed strong friendships with all races so far and enjoy a rich open trade with them.

After being introduced to outsider magic they found themselves greatly adept at using arcane energy and have become some of the best casters on the treasures and this has caused them to become rather involved in mage politics concerning worlds outside theirs.

Magic

[note]Magic is still up in that air mainly. Im working out the different types of magics there will be and why they are different. Expect many more types then what i have listed.[/note]

In the realm of The Seven Treasures magic comes in many unique forms, varying from normal mundane Arcanna, to Channeling power from black holes to tear your enemy into pieces.
Also called Mundane Magic, It is the weakest of all forms of magic as it has little to no offensive or defensive abilities.

Referred to as Under Magic by most schooled mages. This magic is gained through making a pact with a being of great magic power. (Most commonly demons and elementals)

The "Creators Magic". Said to be the magic that the gods used when making the worlds. It is extremely rare for any male to wield this magic and Is forbidden by multiple cultures around the treasures.
History
Still, very very very un thought out. Rough idea of when/how the worlds came to be and how the races got there. Will post that when i have time to type it up all pretty.

Maybe you could tell us a bit about the races you have planned? Also, what about a "treasure" which is the opposite of your "1 continent" world, and instead has only islands. You can decide whether you want them to be far apart or close to each other.
Maybe have a very small "treasure" which is a nation by itself, as it is small enough to be controlled by a single government; be it an emperor or a council.
You could also have a treasure "treasure"; a largely unpopulated world, due to the race originating on it being long gone (maybe have some other primal race originate on it as well). That said, this world is covered in untamed landscapes and dotted with treasure-filled ruins.

I think you need an intro explaining the metaphor (or physical reality, I wasn't sure) of the treasures. What exactly are they? What do they do? Make that clear and easy to grasp in your intro, saving more complex concepts for your main thread.
Looks like you have a vast plan for this world, I wish you luck and creativity!

Had time for a quick post. got some sniplets on one of my races.
A race of short humanoids averaging 4'6"-5', They have weak bones and develop little body fat only averaging 3-5%. They have feathered wings that  span twice their height roughly. Also live an average of 60 years.

They live mostly in the mountainous regions of Teria and form large towns with very few small towns in between.  They are hunter/Gatherers primarily but do have the knowledge to farm if needed, however the size constraint that peaks put on them makes farming very difficult and implausible.

I loves your WIP threads....
Are you going to have ethnicities and strains of each race?

Looking forward to more on tranportation magic...

Sorry guys, been sick in bed for a few days. Back to update.

On teleportation, I've come to the conclusion that teleporting between the treasures will be semi-challenging without some "enabler" Something that gives a short cut basically.

One possibility I'm thinking of...

If you take a rock from a mine in my world the rock and the mine(Though not alive) know where the other is at all times and have a "pull" to one another. The greater the size of the object the greater the pull. Mages who discovered this also have found it can lead to very easy teleportation. They harvested a piece of crystal about the height of a door from the largest crystal deposit on Teria and took it back to Arannia where after rigorous testing they came to the conclusion that if one simply uses the natural pull between objects they can make teleportation take next to no energy. The only issue is that it allows for teleportation only to major locations(I.E the crystal deposit.) with a large amount of magical presence.(Sorry, forgot to mention. The Crystal was formed into an archway and later was enchanted with a sustained teleport spell that allowed them to teleport freely.)

Does this sound like a good way to explain a form of teleportation?

I have a couple more ideas but im going back to bed. Asthma+Cold+Headache+possible lung cold also=Lots of bed and no internets xD

EDIT: Thanks for the replies btw. Ill try and post on each of your settings tonight or tomorrow when i feel up to being alive.

I like the idea of using the natural pull of objects to their origin as a guide through the aether (or whatever you call it).
But why does a stone connect to a mine? In theory, it might as well have been a stone from a different mine. Now, if you instead took a brick from a city wall it would be that brick from that city wall. I would say this would be a deeper and more powerful connection.
Of course, one could argument that age is more important. That a landmark like the crystal deposits over time becomes interconnected.
So you could use stability or identity as connecting factors. Or magic, but that's a bit bland.

Hm, I hadn't thought of it that way but i like the idea. It sounds like something that could add alot of flavor to my teleporting. Ah, the ideas for campaign use are already coming.

The value of the brick in that treasure chest will be greater then they suspect xD!

On the teleportation, the idea of pull is pretty neat. A piece the size of a doorway isn't particularly large, so how common are these? Seems fairly easy to cut a door sized chunk out of the ground and take it, unless you have to counter-act the pull to teleport it away, wich would be very hard since its right at its origin. Does distance affect it in anyway?

Is it only minerals that have a pull? (Rocks, crystals etc). Or would a living thing work, like part of a tree. How about something more mobile like a person or an animal.

The other thing is about the Keziri, I don't know how based (biologically) on birds they might be but birds have extremely long lifespans for their size. They're bodies are much more efficient so they have a lot less damage from free radicals, something believed to cause aging (as well as mutations that can lead to cancer). So 60 years seems very short if they're biologically close to birds. Just something that popped into my mind when I read about them.

I did forget to mention, the piece was from crystals infused with alot of magic. Otherwise with something like mundane objects it takes a larger piece yes. However, the piece must be one solid object. To make a teleporting gate* to say a specific mountain cave, one could take a large archway shaped piece. However the issue would be getting the object to where you want it with it breaking. When broken the pull would still work but they wouldnt work together.

Ive been considering this strongly. All objects do have this pull, however some materials are stronger then others. As for the living object, yes it would still work. Though typically a very weak pull is found between a person and his severed hand xD However, one thing most mages are interested by, The pull between a mother and her child is extremely powerful, even to the point of pulling one to the other with no magic intervention.

Hm, I actually thought their life spans were kinda short(Shows how much my school years aid me now xD) I think this makes more sense for them. They have to be efficient body wise to live in the harsher climate and with less food then most other races have. Thank you for bringing this to light :)

[note]*Im not entirely sure what to call the gates. Ive tossed around a few ideas but they all seem like they are over used or mundane. Id prefer to keep the term gate out but no clue where to go from there.[/note]
