Wix of Bel-Air

Within the dense forest along the coast, the seemingly dark clouds of smoke mask the real purpose of the humanoid settlement. Sweating youngsters of all the civilized races train hastily about the long established fortress. Each of these adolescents have been hand pick from their nations to join the elite ranks of the High Echelon Academy. The eager students gather around their instructors as the calling bell sounds. It is the point in the day that the Headmaster Suvasis, a renowned teacher of combat and magical arts, gives his daily address. Four students stand beside him -the best in their class- adding their presence to Suvasisâ,¬,,¢ speech.

â,¬Å"My cherished ones,â,¬Â he begins with the slow grace of the old, â,¬Å"today is a good day for all of us. We have now not only reached our goal of becoming a great intuition in the eyes of our nation, but in the eyes of those who view our wonderful land as their friend. Every one of us should be proud. This day also marks...â,¬Â he remarks wearily grabbing the wooden railing. His breathing slows down and he falls to the floor of the balcony. Gasps from around the encampment sound as the four students come to his aid. The old man looks perplexedly up to the sky breathing out something incompressible, as the darkness slowly surround his eyes.

Healers of the academy only did so much because it was quite obvious there was nothing to do for him: He was dying. The four young students gathered around his deathbed, watching his once vibrant half-elven features to give way to the pale stagnancy of an old man. He had asked the attendants to leave as he spoke softly to the teary-eyed children. â,¬Å"Do not weep, for I have little time, and I wish to see your smiling faces before I go. Please follow the instructions I have laid out for my funeral, that is my only last wish. Be happy and rejoice in each others company, that is my last lesson. You are...â,¬Â he continued on slowly but fell short as he took one last gasp and sighed a relieving breath.

There wasnâ,¬,,¢t much sun on the funeral day. The dark clouds blocked the orange glow that was supposed to shine from far away. One of the young ones carried the urn of the Headmasterâ,¬,,¢s ashes in his arms tightly as they all marched toward the burial site. The rest of them carried their own unique type of gear to their destination as was instructed. The accompanying instructors escorted them through the dark and unsettling angry forest. The instructors were young adults themselves and grieved silently while carrying the small packs the children needed for the rest of their trip. They handed off the packs to the children as the four young adventurers took the rest of the trip alone as was requested by Suvasisâ,¬,,¢ on his deathbed. The children made their way to the site as the sun was touching down under the horizon. The trees gave way to a clearing that revealed the place. It looked as though the sacred place had been undisturbed for some time. A single exotic statue stood straight on top of the small rise. It was a rectangle block of greenish stone with a few methodically place chips on the front the stone to make it look like a portcullis or maybe a creature. Underneath the scratches was a block of ancient writing engraved in the statue. This is where the Headmaster wanted to be buried.

As the urn was placed in front of the stone figure the darkness overhead could be felt on the palms of their hands. The four of them backed up and looked at each other silently in a kind of spiritual acceptance. The small half-elf pulled out a strangely inscribed golden horn from their small leather case. They put the horn up close to their mouth and began to remember to the song that the Headmaster requested he play at the funeral. The rest of the children bowed their heads as the half-elf played the first verse of the song. A loud clap of thunder startled all of them and from out of the forest, four dark robed figures appeared. The children backed towards the statue and having their hands on their weapons. The dark figures put out their hands and one of mysterious men then motioned for the children to continue. With the horn in hand, the half-elf put the horn to their lips and blew out the sweet chords. The song filled the once uneasy air with a charming melody. The wind picked up and the lightning from far away shot against the earth. The thunder that followed wasnâ,¬,,¢t barely heard, not because it wasnâ,¬,,¢t loud, but because the melody of the song was more appeasing to the ears. As the song played on, the wind picked up again and the foreign script upon the stone began to glow blue. The other children trembled softly and looked around nervously as the horn player put his whole heart into the song. The figures behind them moved away back into the forest and bade them a soundless farewell. The direction of the wind kicked around furiously for the next several seconds as the song came to its climax. Lines of glowing blue light encircled the group and joined back together in the centre. A great wind blew upwards from the ground and a blinding light shone from the stone. The song finished and the children clinging to their things and to the ground for their lives, the world went a bright white, and then disappeared. This is the story of the four children.

This is the story about the children who save the universe.

This is an adventure/campaign for pre-generated 2nd level characters. It takes on the story of 4 children pushed into a foreign place and they help each other and learn more about themselves along the way.

Mechanical Notes:
-Each player will transcribe the general information into a PbP type character profile.
-Obviously you canâ,¬,,¢t change things around, however, you get to pick their name, bonus languages (if any), alignment (except for the Knight) change around their spells if you wish, and also you can purchase up to 25gp of travelling gear (they were prepared) as well as obtaining special items for each character (see char. sheets).
-You are playing children... therefore they have the age, height, and weight of a youngster from their race. Also, their ability scores are reduced (-3 Str, -3 Con(?), -1 to everything else). You also gain the traits of a small character and you will transcribe those into your PbP character sheets if its on your sheet or not.
-I used my old 3e books to do this so you might have to give them some abilities and play around with your characters a bit.
-Backgrounds are not needed (a small one would suffice though) and appearance of your character should be noted in the PbP sheet.

When everyone has their characters setup I will tell you where you are starting off. Below are the characters.

Just in case you didn't know already, the elf hero is 3rd level.  Therefore it is stronger than the others...  Just thought you might want to know that...

Assuming you don't mind holding the hand of a PbP newbie as he learns the format, sign me up. I'll take human knight for 1000, Alex.

Shouldn't these be small weapons for little hands, and scale damage down by one die size accordingly?

Ishmayl-Retired

I think Ishmayl should be a Young Human Mage...   In fact, I'm going to nominate him to take that position, though he may need some guiding along the way.  I'll make sure he agrees first, but he should be okay.

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

Smite makes right! Just in case you didn't catch it, ur alignment is gonna hve to be LG unless you wanna play around with that...
As for the weapons... if you're a small creature and you use a small weapon it's like a medium-sized person is wielding a medium weapon. I hope you get the idea.

Wix will probably be okay with that.

EDIT: Fell free to use the Complete series. However, as I have none of them, you'll have to have a small description of whatever you take out.

I just assumed from 3.0 to 3.5 they kept it simple as to how big an item was (a longspear was Large unless otherwise noted).
