So this is going to be sort of like a world made up of the Imaskari (from the Forgotten Realms)?  Sounds interesting.

This is probably the only kind of high magic campaign setting that I could get in to, where magic not only becomes techology, but as you mentioned, alters society itself (Thanks for finally breaking the mold!).

Aside from making magic of more importance, and taking out a few (as of yet) unmentioned things, is there any other major differences between your world and any other setting?

(Militaristic is a word.)

~Kalin~

i have no idea what imaskari is, the world is just some seemingly random ideas ive come up with that ive decided to put together into a setting.

Well about the only difference so far between my world and other settings is that there are no gnomes, thats right none at all, i just find the gnome race laughable at best.

Note:Im also changing the name of this thread to a discussion and im going to have a seperate thread for my actual world to avoid clutter and make it easier to read.

So is your world similar to Eberron, or are you just rewriting stuff from the Eberron campaign setting to avoid having to come up with it yourself?
I'm a muck-levelist, I like to see things from the bottom.

I think what he was saying was that he was using Eberron's method of presentation to present his world, which really, is a good idea.  I personally think Forgotten Realms is presented best, which is what I tend to use when I'm looking for inspiration on how I should write what I should write about.  Mmmmm, I love some crazy syntax.

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

Moon idea:
The moon of Sharien seems to shimmer with faint blue-purple light.  It is a medium-sized moon covered in a vast ocean.  This water world is sometimes said to be home to ancient and terrible civilization beneath the waves.

According to legend, a powerful mage once tried to teleport there, to learn from the civilization rumored to dwell there.  Some say he never returned, others that he did, but was not quite right anymore.

There is a little-known prophecy that those the dwell beneath the waves will one day descend back to Ladrona and all the world will cower before them.

I am using some of the eberron campaign setting, and rewriting much of it so it will fit with my campaign setting. I mainly do this because i dont always think of everything that needs to be said or know a way of presenting it clearly.

I am using Eberron's method of presentation as well, mainly because its the only campaign setting i have access to.

Okay, this is interesting so far, but it's not a lot of information from which I can get a feel for what it's like to live in the world. The organizations help make things clearer (although they raise questions of their own as well-- which is a good sign!), but I'd still like to hear more about life in the world.

What kinds of adventures are you keeping in mind when you set up this setting? Are we talking primarily war between nations or races here (as organizations like the Federation, and your creation myth, seem to set up?) Are you going with more of a mystery/intrigue type of thing (the Crystal Hand seems to offer some potential for that), or exploration, or monster-fighting, cave-crawling, treasure hunting? I'd like to hear a little more about where you're going with all of this.

So what exactly would you like to hear more about? the races? how they interact? wandering monsters? or something else?

I havent decided on the primary adventures within the world, i have just been setting up potential hooks leaving clues here and there for when i need them, most adventures will most likley be a combination of intrigue, exploration, fighting etc...

I'm willing to do another moon:
Vulcas appears to be a small, brilliant red moon.  Though often hard to see because of its complex orbit, when visible it is distinctive.  Many of Ladrona consider the moon a bad omen.  On rare nights when it is the only full moon visible, strange things tend to happen.

Vulcas is a volcanic moon, covered in fire and magma.  It is a hellish place that only creatures of flame could hope to survive on.

Races and how they interact sounds like a good place to start; basically anything about the fundamental culture, seen through the eyes of the people that actually live in it.

In just about every setting and every game I can think of, it's possible to think of things in terms of a status quo, which is then upset by some kind of destabilizing force, creating a conflict. If you think it's accurate to conceive of Ladrona using that model, then I'd like to hear a little more about the status quo.

Simply wow, i really wish i could think of things like this. Considered it added as well although i dont really like the name of the moon, and if you feel like redoing the other three moons feel free.

If you explain what kinds of names you are looking for, it makes it easier to create consistent ones.

I chose Vulcas because it reminded by of the fires of Vulcan's forge.

I just made up Sharien to sound mythical, or maybe fey-ish.

Here is an idea for one of your moons:

The moon of Ithil'ar glows with an inner green light.  It is commonly believed that the green glow that easily identifies Ithil'are from its sisters is the reflection from the enormous forest that encompasses the moon.

There have been a few throughout history, that believe the Ladronan Elves call Ithil'ar home.  Although, not a single elf is willing to attest to the validity of this rumor.
