What's the general consensus when it comes out to your favorite television series?

I've got about four I rank up there:

1- Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Gotta love Detective Goren.

2- Avatar: The Last Airbender. If you don't know what it is, shame on you, and catch up as quickly as possible.

3- Venture Bros. Doctor Orpheus is the greatest. Character. Evar.

4- The Colbert Report. Everthing I ever wanted from a fake news pundit.
Oh, how we danced and we swallowed the night
For it was all ripe for dreaming
Oh, how we danced away all of the lights
We've always been out of our minds

1 - Kim Posiible - No idea why.

2 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (90s version) - The answer to getting around censors with violence is to replace guts and gore with robotics and electric jolts.

3 - Teen Titans - The theme song mostly. I also like Starfire's new look.

4 - The Daily Show - Almost real news, only funnier

I'll have to second those.

Erm...

The Daily Show
Thank God You're Here
(this may be exclusively Australian, though)
Rugrats (the ooold Rugrats, before the little bastards "grew up")
Monk
Oz
City of Men

(the last two are hard to watch)

And I hate - I mean absolutely hate any sitcom whose writers are so insecure or incompetent that they have to rely on a laugh track to ensure viewer enthusiasm.  I mean, were it not for the canned laughter, each and every one of these puddles of grit would be flops before the pilot episode aired.  Does America really need to be told when to laugh?

Okay... maybe they do.

Oh yeah, and...

Oprah
Doctor Phil.

Why?

Because they know exactly what Americans want to hear.  There's a reason why that big booty bitch is a billionaire.

I'm partial to cartoons myself, not only do they numb my brain, but they are full of important life lessons!  Sweet!

1. Pepper Ann - Used to be on ABC, about 4 or 5 years ago, maybe more... (Is it fishstick day already?)
2. The Fairly Oddparents - What's better than magic mixed with stupidity? Nothing. (except Milo Kamilani's hat)
3. Colbert Report - Because that's what I want to do when I get a job, lie to people and get paid!  Best. Job. Ever.
4. StarGate: SG1 - Up until season 8.  I deny the existence of seasons 9 & 10.

Yes it can, it's never dead.
Hey there! This is the CBG.

1) Avatar: The Last Airbender: Great storytelling and animation - and I wish my Exalted combats would be as cool as the fight scenes in the series!

2) Gargoyles: Old, but a classic. I have great hopes for the comic being published at the moment, and hope to find some issues soon.

3) Futurama: Science Fiction has never been funnier.

4) Simpsons: Though I have lost track of recent seasons, the episodes that I do know were some of the most hilarious things I have seen.

5) Bablyon 5: Great storytelling, and the DVD set was definitely worth it.

6) Batman: The Animated Series: This series convinced me that the superhero genre didn't have to suck.

House was my favourite show at one point, until I'd watched it so much that I couldn't deny its obscenely formulaic approach.

It works thusly:

ZOMG, patient is afflicted with bizarre and unlikely ailment!  What on earth could it be?  Cue wisecrack.  Cue others glaring at House and looking frustrated.  ZOMG, we've solved it!  Oh noes, we have not!  Patient is flatlining!  House twirls his cane, somehow managing to look both pensive and smug.  What else could it be?  It could be denzopepteramothiamineninin...iasis.  Oh noes, it's not!  Patient is flatlining again!  Cue soulsearching/moral dilemma.  We've solved it for sure!  Oh noes, we were wrong yet again!  More cane-fondling ensues.  ZOMG, it was the mother all along!  A clear case of Munchausen's syndrome!

And the world is safe once again, until next week, when another improbable case will somehow manage to fall right into House's lap.  How many freak cases can one doctor possibly get in a lifetime, let alone a season?

And how is it that we actually enjoy this nonsese?

But then again, I watch Family Guy and Australia's Funniest Home Videos, so I'm hardly a fair arbiter of quality viewing...

Túrin

Little chance I could make a top-5. I don't think I ever watched five complete tv-series. I've always been more into movies. But anyway, as soon as I find time, I'm gonna watch Prison Break. I've seen three episodes some time ago and I'm hooked.

In that day Tulkas shall strive with Melko, and on his right shall stand Fionwe and on his left Turin Turambar, son of Hurin, Conqueror of Fate; and it shall be the black sword of Turin that deals unto Melko his death and final end; and so shall the Children of Hurin and all men be avenged." - J.R.R.
