QuoteAnd the world is safe once again, until next week, when another improbable case will somehow manage to fall right into House's lap. How many freak cases can one doctor possibly get in a lifetime, let alone a season?

I think the idea is that they're supposed to handle all the freak cases specifically, which is good enough for me. Besides, some of the cases don't seem so much improbable as just drawn on due to foolish neglect or confidence in the wrong thing. Despite the improbability, I'm as much into it over the humor (I laugh at almost everything House says) as anything. It's definitely my favorite show either way, and I really need to buy season 2.

I've pretty much cut down my TV cold turkey.  Even things like House don't peak my interest enough.  So many shows get too dramatic.  The three shows I still watch (in order of favorites):
1. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (original Las Vegas)
2. CSI: New York
3. Criminal Minds

There are a bunch of shows that I like for different reasons:
Gargoyles (I watched it again recently, and I have to say I understand it better now that I'm older, and that whoever has come up with the strict standards for today's shows should get stuffed)
Kim Possible (usually a villain and their sidekicks are both incompetant, or the sidekicks are incompetant, but here we have Drakken and Shego)
The Addams Family (original black-and-white version)(back when it was about being silly and not dark)
Batman Beyond (take Bruce Wayne.  make him old and crotchety.  everything else is extra.)

Honorable mentions:
JAG (it was good until they started getting dramatic)
Animaniacs
ST: DS9
ST: Voyager

But the three that I kinda think are my most favorite:
3. The Muppet Show
2: Cheers.
1. M.A.S.H.
I'm a muck-levelist, I like to see things from the bottom.

I haven't had cable in months. I just picked up eps 1-11 of NHK (fansubs) over the internet and... it's friggin' awesome.

Since most of you are adding cartoons as well. Here are a couple of old school.

-Duck Tales
-G.I. Joe (That's right the original, where the plot was spelled out in the theme song and at the end of everyone a public service announcement. Cause knowing is half the battle)
-Transformers (Again the original)
-M.A.S.K. (Another plot given away in the theme song)

And extremely old school from waaaayyy back in the day:
-Snorks!! (Yeah smurfs, but underwater!!!)

Quite aside from the obvious - MASH, the Colbert Report, etc - there is Wonderfalls.  Funny as a crutch, but also instructive in that only 4 episodes of the 13 they had in the can were ever aired.  The entire 1st season is available on a DVD set now, demonstrating once and for all that the people who make decisions for TV programming are ass-grabbing fools.

Lost, Cold Case.  A few others that I catch when I can, but there are only so many hours in the week, you know?

Babylon 5.  It echoed the grand space operas of E. E. 'Doc' Smith as no movie or TV series has even attempted.  Well, except for a few animes, which might be the problem - no one can figure out how to put a vision like that in live-action.

You'd never guess that the one series upon whose fan-fic I stay current is neither serious nor science fiction - it's Daria, the last good thing MTV ever did.  It appears that cynicism is inherent to my interpretation of feminine appeal.

Even though there has only been one episode, Heroes is quite possibly my new favorite show. It's on ABC, and the first episode is still streaming online. Go watch it, now; set aside 50 minutes and do it! I order you!

Aside from that, Stargate SG1, Metalocolypse, Venture Bros, Avatar, and Robot Chicken are the shows I do my best to never miss.

Apparently it will also be on Sci Fi tomorrow. It is pretty good so far, but I'm going to wait before I say it is great

Oh yeah, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.  I watched it for the first time last night and... yeah.  That's the kind of shit no child should ever be permitted to watch.

To all the guys saying either Daily Show or Colbert Report:  Is it just me, or has the quality of the Daily Show gone downhill of late?  I mean, don't get me wrong, other than Bill Maher, I think Jon Stewart is the funniest and smartest guy in the media right now, but I think the show itself is suffering from losing all the good writers.  Steve Carrel and Stephen Colbert are both gone, and even Vance (back in the day) was better than what they have now.  I think Daily and Colbert are both funny, but I think they're dividing their talent too much, and I'd rather see the two of them back together, doing an hour-long show of some sort.

I dunno. Daily Show has taken a turn, I don't think it's particularly better or worse, just slightly different. I'm cool with it, and the "Heat Seat" feature is kinda cool.

I like Colbert better on his show than I did on Daily Show. It's a different kind of humor than he got to do on Daily Show, and it's great to see someone lambasting O'Reilly and Riveria through *praise*.
