Why is it fun to "pwn" posters on message boards?

I don't know, it just is, especially on the WotC boards where people often don't know what they're talking about. I won't name names, but I was just shown something which should get at least a chuckle out of most. And in the nature of good humor, I'll use my name first.

If you found that funny, just change the name. It should read <firstname>.<lastname>.justgotowned.com.

Have fun. Don't listen to the song too long, as it might cause death from laughing.

OH, and if you need to appoligize to anyone you owned with this, try this to patch things up:

Same as before, put <firstname>.<lastname>.youaremighty.com in your browser.

Hmmm. Yep, I've known this for a while, and posted it back in the Tavern a long while ago-- still, it's good fun, and kudos for digging up some memories. :)

EDIT: And please, for the love of god... "p0wn"?

If I'm not mistaken, "pwn", "0wn", and "own" are accepted forms of the verb "to own/pwn", according to M3ri4m w3bstar roflcopter dict. of "1337"ness!!11!1!1one11!eleventy1

They didn't have internet in soviet Russia, right? And don't even get me started on "intarweb". I don't think we have even invented that yet.

"Then shall the last battle be gathered on the fields of Valinor. In that day Tulkas shall strive with Melko, and on his right shall stand Fionwe and on his left Turin Turambar, son of Hurin, Conqueror of Fate; and it shall be the black sword of Turin that deals unto Melko his death and final end; and so shall the Children of Hurin and all men be avenged." - J.R.R. In the meantime, this ol' intartron will just have to suffice.
