Awesome! what system are you using?

and also...
COMMUNIST HORSE!!!!!!!!!

Star Wars Saga Edition, a d20 hybrid that looks kind of like a more streamlined 3.5 with a few ideas that were later used in 4e thrown in. Very good system for anything Star Wars-related, and with a few modifications it is also stellar for anything medieval in general.

Traditions and Alliances

Lightswords

There is no symbol more coveted and revered in all the lands than the light of the lightsword. The lightsword symbolizes a link to the first masters of the Force, who were so in control of the Force's secrets that whenever they harnessed it, they glowed a distinct color as raw energy infused their bodies. The manufacture of such swords, which at first glance seem like a sword hilt with the blade broken clean off, is a lost art and even those who have mastered it are hesitant to teach the method to their students. What is known is that rare ores like those found only in the vaults of the richest and oldest kings are required to forge such a blade. Even rarer crystals, sought by kings and vagrants alike, when forged into the sword itself can sometimes alter the appearance of the energy blade that extends from the hilt significantly when the Force is channelled through them.

Jedi

The order of the Jedi is an ancient power in the world, sworn to uphold order, peace, and knowledge. Although all associated by the power they wield and ideals they champion, many Jedi live much like reclusive wizards, who were once taught to use the Force by masters who were equally reclusive. Only one major concentration of the Jedi is known to exist on a tiny island in the Central Sea, a fabled place few non-Jedi have seen.

Many Jedi outside of the Jedi Enclave are very knowledgeable and wise, traits that make them and other Force users highly sought-after by particularly ambitious kings and lords. Despite this, the path of the Jedi seldom leads them into regular advisory positions - unless they hunger for power and have fallen from grace.

Sith

Some say the Sith tradition is older than that of the Jedi, though this has never been confirmed. The Sith are like a dark reflection of the Jedi that congregates in dark places with wicked intent. Unlike the Jedi, they hunger for power and are driven by fear and anger, and use the Force to harm for their own purposes. Small conclaves of Sith are found throughout the world, often operating in secret but at other times ruling people in tyrannical fashion. These are led by Sith Lords, who in turn owe a very loose fealty to the Dark Lord of the Sith (and occasionally a Dark Apprentice as well); members of the Sith usually obtain these positions by slaying their former masters.

Although they are numerous, not all Force users tainted by the dark side of the Force. The use of a red lightsword was once a symbol of membership in the Sith, but other Force users who wield lightswords now often use them as well.

The Force-Kings of Alderaan

Alderaan was once ruled by a long line of powerful Force users whose powers fed naturally into royal roles in politics and war. For nearly two-hundred years the throne went uncontested with a definite, powerful successor to every aging monarch, until various Sith in their hunger for power and dissonance sought to destroy the line. It took almost another century of plotting and assassination until the line was finally crippled, ushering in an end to Alderaan's might. Sith control was brief and caused fragmentation of the country due to infighting between the Sith barons.

The line of the Force-Kings is now broken, but there are still likely to be at least a few potential heirs to the throne, as the last generations of the royal family sported many children who were ushered away to safe locales when Alderaan was no longer theirs. Although Alderaan has been fragmented for decades and the petty barons seem to have no desire to unite under a king or queen again, some still seek out the lost heirs.

The Storm Knights

Also known as the Imperial Arm, the Storm Knights are a fearsome force across Galacar. A massive host of well-trained and well-armed mounted warriors clad in mail and white banners, the Storm Knights slowly advance across the western kingdoms in conquest for the Emperor, whose identity is still unknown. As the Imperial Arm advances and takes more and more territories, recruitment of yeomen into the ranks takes place where there are those willing, and word of their successes travels across the land, creating a divide as some regions welcome the Empire's control and some regions fiercely resist.

At various times in history, the Empire has been said to associate closely with the Sith, but currently it seems various contingents of Storm Knights have made war against Sith enclaves. Meanwhile they have attracted the attention of countless ambitious young men and women who see glory among the ranks, ever increasing the strength of the Empire's advance. The leaders of the Storm Knights and the associated Imperial Lords make no modesties in discussing the goal of the Empire, which is complete power in Galacar.

I really love the idea of burning up arrow, catching them with a lightsaber.

Also, I've never before been so pleased by someone saying "def".

Hibou

A few short blurbs on the two major Force traditions and a bit of explanation for lightswords (let me know what you think!). Also, I did the unavailable talents list, but not all classes and PrCs are listed as many of their talent trees will work just fine. Likewise, a few PrCs (such as Ace Pilot) are simply removed entirely because they don't fit at all. In terms of most talent options removed, the Scoundrel class appears to lose much, but between the various sourcebooks the Fortune and Misfortune talent trees get huge, and Scoundrels gain some new trees as well.

Does anyone think I should reintroduce Redirect Shot as an ability of a class, and users of the talent could deflect arrows and bolts and thrown weapons at others? I'm thinking if I do so, it'll be part of a unique tradition of Force warriors.

I just read through what you've posted about about the Force traditions (and the rest of the post). Well done. I can't really think of any way you could have done it better, though the Storm Knights seem a little strange.

I laughed a little when I read that Alderaan "fragmented".

Since there seems to be a lot of interest here and I am currently fairly busy with work, I thought I'd throw out the opportunity for others to contribute to the project, if desired. It can be as simple as a write-up for a small faction or an individual, or a historic hero or villain of note, or you could go into great detail about Dark Ages: Jedi's version of your favorite Star Wars beast, organization, or tradition. If you describe something/someone, I'll try and stat it up based on the description. "New" versions of major characters from the universe are also fine, just as long as they're not major characters from any of the movies (for example, Coleman Trebor or even Darth Bane would be fine, but Qui-Gon, Watto, or Biggs would not).

Tempting. I may look into giving the Antarian Rangers a Dark Ages treatment, if the mood strikes me to write outside of my own setting.

I am glad to see some life back here, anyway.

Ninja D!

Alright, I have a browser window with several tabs open to all sorts of Antarian Ranger info and one tab open to this thread. I've also found a couple older Antarian Ranger prestige classes I will link you to once I have something written worth posting.
