Hey guys, I recently received a Google+ invite and am quite pleased with the service and have proceeded to send invites to a bunch of friends (including some CBG members). I thought I'd start up a thread where we can discuss it and maybe toss invites in the direction of interested members.

Regarding Google+'s equivalent of games on Facebook, what I have heard states that the service has actually been designed to incorporate games, but this aspect isn't yet activated. I've also not yet had an opportunity to try Hangouts but am very eager to do so.

Anyway, if you have things to discuss about Google+ or want an invite, post here and let me know (and if your email isn't listed on your profile, please tell me which to send to).

I'm in google+ and am really liking the looks of it.

No one has been able to develop games as of yet. They'll come eventually. I'm sure Zynga will rush them since they're already not big on Facebook.

I'd love to take a look at it, but I'm not terribly interested - I use Facebook only once in a blue moon anyway... but sure, a look at the newest fad would still be great. (See where I'm going with this? wink wink)

But seriously, I never got the whole thing about the social portals. Sure, I know WHY people want them, but I never had the drive for them. What would I be telling those people there? Like, what I ate? As pointless as Twitter IMO.

I used to feel that way about Twitter. Then I started using it.

Honestly, Nomadic's comment in the Tavern is why I probably won't end up using it all that much.

That said, it doesn't (seem to) have the enthusiastic zealots that kept me from ever making a Facebook account, so I'll give it a chance. Interestingly enough, I'm more likely to use the latest technology without people implying that I need it to function, than I am with them...

I remember now some stuff I read the day the whole Google+ got known officially. They had that general info page available to everyone, and I was completely amazed at it. I mean, I was amazed they posted that stuff as new.

"You can now group your friends in 'circles' to differentiate between different kinds of acquaintances!" Er... ever heard of 'contact groups'? I don't think Facebook has it, but a lot of IMs do, so it's nothing new.
"Hangouts! Now you can do a webcam talk with your friends!" Ever heard of Skype?

And so on. A lot of stuff that was supposedly new, was there since ages. The whole fuss must be about it just being a new thing.

Yeah, Steve Russell of Rite Publishing made me get a Facebook account, as that is his primary advertising platform for product announcements and such. And he can link my name in a product release post that is shared on my Facebook page. I only use my Facebook site for industry contacts. I have 1 actual local friend, though I avoid trying to gather up my high school/college/army buddies as that is not what I am interested in. I have 3 relatives as friends, then all the rest are the higher ups in Paizo Publishing, Wolfgang Baur, Open Design, various third party publishers, various freelancers I know or have commissioned, a couple of Kaidan patrons and a few Kaidan customers - that's it.

I have no other interest in social networking, so could absolutely care less about Google+, GroupOn, or any other similar network. Plus I never play the Facebook games - that too is not my thing at all.

If it weren't for forums like this site, I don't think I'd spend much time online at all.

I wouldn't mind an invite, I'd like to check out google+. I use facebook a decent amount, it's pretty good to use when organizing something.
