What was your favorite childhood cartoon?

Personally I can't pick one, so I wouldn't fault anyone else that can't  :)

My two are Thundarr the Barbarian and Flash Gordon

Current project : D&D - The Middle Lands of Keltor - The Thread - The setting's PDF

Last project : Gamma World - The Village of Attwatta - The Guardian is Dead

Side project : Little Fears - Grace Home for Lost Children - A setting and adventure

Yeah, I couldn't pick one.  My top 3 would probably be Batman: The Animated Series, Mighty Max, and Darkwing Duck, although Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Cybersix, Powerpuff Girls, Bucky O'Hare, and TaleSpin all get an honourable mention.

Although I was pretty young during their original airing and so don't remember them well, I don't think I'd be the same person (or setting designer) without Thundercats, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and of course, Dungeons & Dragons.

Some that I watched and enjoyed when I was a bit more discerning/critical of a viewer (late elementary to high school) that still stand up to repeat viewing these days would include Batman: the Animated Series, Animaniacs, Dexter's Laboratory, and Power Puff Girls.

Current-ish stuff that I enjoy includes Phineas & Ferb and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (I'm not a serious brony, but I do like what I've watched).

From when I was a kid?

X-Men, Spider-Man and Eek! The Cat (though to be fair, I loved The Terrible Thunderlizards segments more than the Eek bits (though interestingly, I did not like the spin off TV show)).

I would love to say Batman: The Animated Series is only list but, to be honest, I remember finding the show's pacing to be slow and the art too dark.  Plus, it didn't really fit in with my conception of Batman (derived mostly from re-runs of the 60's TV show that my dad *loved* to watch). Once I became a Tween, I really fell in love with Batman: The Animated Series (and its sequel/continuation series), and as I became a Teen I became quite enamored with the Timmverse (except Zeta Project, but then again, no one liked that show). By the same token, I can't really say Dexter's Lab, Cow & Chicken, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Johnny Bravo, DBZ, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, etc. were apart of my childhood because I was a Tween by the time those shows came out and/or my family first got cable.

EDIT: Totally forgot about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which I adored as a kid however, I honestly only remember bits and pieces of it. I'm honestly shocked that it lasted 10 seasons... Looking into it, it was on CBS Kids, which sadly meant I didn't watch it that much because I was all about Fox Kids growing up.

EDIT 2: Oooo, Reboot was also from that era... I can't say it was my favorite show but it was really amazing for its day.

There was this awesome cartoon about a bear. I cannot remember what the cartoon was about. I cannot remember its name. It was in the late nineties and it was melancholy and it was great.

Also the really early Rugrats stuff and Rocko's Modern Life. The shit those writers got away with.

EDIT: Oh yeah. And The Trap Door. Weird little piece.

You're not talking about Tale Spin, are you?

Forgot X-men... that was great.

Rustled up the Bucky O'Hare intro.  The music is, like, ingrained in my brain from my childhood.

Biker Mice from Mars was also a regular feature of my saturday mornings.

EDIT: And Gargoyles, holy crap I loved that one.

I also watched more Sailor Moon than I cared to admit at the time.

She is the one!
Sailor Moon!

I did a mix CD of Superhero-related music and wanted to put the Sailor Moon theme song on it, but I only have VHS episodes of the series and my VCR isn't hooked up to play sound through the stereo, so my CD recorder can't pick it up.

I liked what I saw of the show and love the theme song.

I'd probably pick the original Johnny Quest, though I watched a lot of Speed Racer (despite not being a fan of Japanese anime-style big eyes art). Of course my cartoons of choice belie my age (older than many of you.)

Now comics wise, which I was never a serious comic book afficianado, I was never into super heroes, rather I read Vampirella, Cousin Eerie and Uncle Creepy - I always preferred horror media to anything else.

LoA

Calvin and Hobbes. Without hesitation, Calvin and Hobbes.

Now if you're talking animated shows, that's harder to pin down... Pretty much all of the DCAU shows, and Cartoon network stuff make high on my list.

But as of recent? Gravity Falls.

Velox

Ren and Stimpy
Batman: The Animated Series
X-Men
Exosquad (toys mainly - the show was on too early to be enjoyed)
Rockos Modern Life
Reboot
Aaahh!!! Real Monsters
Spider-Man (1994)
Hey Arnold!
Dexter's Lab
Samurai Jack
Road Rovers (the cartoon about Coalition dog boys from Rifts, more or less)
Angry Beavers
CatDog

Hibou

If you can count Reboot, then Reboot; otherwise it's gotta be Batman: TAS

I know The Thief and the Cobbler is a movie, not even a television series (let alone a "cartoon") but I'm naming it anyway. Best cell animation I ever did see. And I wish Miyazaki had made a television series.
