D&D 5e/D&D Next IRC Game

After asking in The Tavern, there seems to be enough interest to merit a thread.

So, I am willing to GM the game if there are people interested. It would use the free D&D Next/5e basic rules found here http://media.wizards.com/downloads/dnd/DnDBasicRules.pdf

This would be my first time GM'ing, although I have played in a few different IRC games. The game would start at 1st level, and go from there. The entire thing would be aimed to be 2-3 sessions possibly. If things go really well, maybe it could continue.

Personally I would prefer to play on the weekend, as after work I don't have a huge amount of time during the week. However if the weekdays are the best bet I can probably make it work. So, I am available from 6:00pm Saskatchewan /8:00pm Eastern on weekdays and free from 12:00 Saskwatchewan/2:00pm Eastern on weekends.

Thoughts, comments or ideas?

Rose-of-Vellum

Besides the noted system and medium, any additional info on the proposed game (e.g., setting, basic plot)?

Weave

In addition to echoing the questions of RoV, how long do you aim sessions to be? 8 EST is a little late for me, even on weekends, but I can make it happen.

Xathan

Given the schedule, I may be able to play, depending on exact times. In addition to the above questions, the time confused me: 6 cst / 8 est doesn't quite work, since cst and est are one hour apart. When is the time that works? :)

I might be able to make it. Hopefully, anyway!

Woops, I fixed the time, it's 6 Sask 8 Eastern.

As for setting and basic plot, I was planning or running the Starter Set content unless there was a huge cry not to. I've read some reviews of it and it is apparently not too bad. I will probably tweak a few things based on reviews if required.

As for session length, I don't know. I was hoping for a weekend so if the games run late/long it wouldn't be much of an issue. I was thinking maybe 2-3 hours? I've played shorter and longer IRC sessions.

Weave

I'm fine with the starter set. I've literally looked at nothing in it, but I imagine it's got some sort of premade adventure?

Correct, there's a premade campaign in the Starter Set.

I'm interested in joining in, too, and 8 pm sounds doable any day. I'm also good with any adventure you want to run.  I'm more curious about how the system handles than what sort of muck we are arunnin'. :D

Alright, I'll have a doodle up fairly soon for times. That way we can set things up a bit more.

If you want to make a character, instead of rolling stats you should use the array they give in the basic rules: 15,14,13,12,10,8 distributed however you want.  Setting wise, any race(subrace)/class is a go. Feel free to roll the backgrounds or simply choose.

The only rule that I would probably tweak is Inspiration, everyone starts with it, but I will be doling it out very sparingly.

Campaign/setting wise, I would consider it generic D&D setting unless people want to me run something more unique (then I'll post a thread with fluff in it).

Doodle Up. If these times don't work we can figure something else out.

Earlier you were talking about 8pm Eastern. The times listed there say 6pm Eastern-- did you put in your local time and mark it as Eastern?

Llum

Thanks Sparkle, times are fixed for EST.
