As Lewis did (to an extent) you could include a more muslim viewpoint somewhere in the world - we have to remember that Judaism, Islam, and Christianity are all intertwined. Muslims (most/some) believe, officially at least, that Christians and Jews follow Allah - they've just been misled by mistakes in the holy books and/or the devil.

All this according to wikipedia. :P

Yeah, but Lewis' treatment of the Calormenes was not exactly flattering.  I'd worry about bringing such questionable heavy-handed moralizing into a campaign.  I like the idea of including other views on the subject, but I wouldn't do it Lewis' way :p

I think that you could also do say a campaign set in Arthur's Britain or the like. That permits you a setting with giants, fae, witches, sorcerors, knights and all manner of possible adventures but places it firmly in a recognizable cosmology.

BTW, the Calormenes are not so much I think supposed to be Muslim exactly. I think that the culture is meant to be evocative of a few Middle Eastern cultures thrown together but the worship of Tash is more evocative of Baal or Dagon as depicted in the Bible.

yea, the calormenes weren't exactly a depiction to be proud of... although, to be fair, if i remember correctly, one calormene was redeemed later in the series.

i think i like the idea of incorporating splintered sects of beliefs, tho...

The calormenes were a corrupted society, but there were GOOD calormenes. However, I was only noting that Lewis did include other belief forms too.
