Yeah, it could go either way, depending how you think about it. I'm just thinking that if I was fighting Demons, the way to go would be to design weapons that specifically target their weaknesses. Here's an example:

War wagon: An armored wagon, specially reinforced to protect against the Demons' powerful attacks. Holds a driver and up to 8 fighters as a battle wagon, or up to 15 fighters as a troop transport. A large team of heavy draft horses can move the wagon up to 5 feet per round. All sides and top are protected, with 8 firing ports. When the ports are closed, it provides 100% cover. When open, it provides 90% cover to bowmen, or 50% cover to spell casters or fighters wielding the staff weapons (below). Twice per day, the driver can summon earth elementals that will move the wagon at 15 feet per round; or, once per day, summon stronger elementalt to move it at 50 feet per round. The elementals will serve for one hour each time they are summoned. There would be some other protective spells the driver can activate, to protect against some common elemental attacks, for example. The whole wagon is enchanted so as to overcome DR */magic on a trample attack. (Use driver's BAB? Amount of damage?) Each wagon was originally equipped with 8 staff weapons (one for each firing port).

Staff weapon: A five foot staff with some kind of device at the end. The device projects bolts of extradimensional energy. These bolts do 6d6 damage as a ranged touch attack against extraplanar beings. Against other targets, the bolt causes confusion for 1d4 rounds but does no damage (DC 20 Will save negates). The staff can be used for 12 blasts, then must be returned to the war wagon's armory for five minutes to recharge.

So this kind of thing is a pretty awesome war machine, even just as a strong point that moves slowly across the battle field and provides spell casters a safe platform to cast from. Of course, against Demons or any other extraplanar incursion, those staff weapons are pure destruction; but against people they are more of a minor annoyance.

That is a cool example of your point of view, and is a neat item all round.

However I'm thinking of the fact that the elves wanted to use a forgetting spell to put these weapons away--I don't want the whole thing to be an anti-climax.
