Ok, I'm finally going to put up a thread in this forum.  It'll probably progress rather slowly, but knowing it's here will motivate me to actually produce something which I can type out.

Ok, so the table of contents for now will look something like this...

1.Cosmology - the new planar setup will be explained here.

2. The Gods - The pantheons and their conflict will be explained, along with a link to the creation story in the crossroads.

3. The Races of Egridar - quite obviously the stats and society of the races present in my setting.

4. The Classes of Egridar - the classes in my setting, and their places in the aforementioned society.

5. The world itself - a series of posts dedicated to specific geographic regions and nations

EDIT:  Nevermind the no post thing,  I should be able to put stuff up in an organized enugh manner anyway.  Just do your best to keep well on topic here, as I'd like this to stay reasonably clutter free.  Any long conversations should take place on my critique thread.

Enjoy!

EDIT:  The cosmology is currently undergoing reconstruction, and i am not usre if this cosology will remain as it is, but I'll leave it up for now anyway.

Almost all players and DM's have a comprehensive understanding of the standard D&d cosmology.  However, the setup presented in the DMG is unsuitable for my setting, so I changed it, as I am allowed to do.  Now there are only 5 planes in my CS, which will be explained below.

The 7 heavens - A grouping of 7 realms where happiness and joy are fulfilled for all those who behaved in a "good" manner in their mortal lives.  This plane is also the dwelling place of celestials, and several planar lords of great power.

The 9 Hells - This is an abyssal collection of terrible realms which lurk below the surface of a commonly perceived reality.  It is the realm from which true evil surges forth to corrupt and destroy.  The Archfiends reside here, in all their terrible prestige.

The Realm of Darkness- The light is nothing unless defined by darkness, hence the presence of the realm of shadow.  A grim reflection of our reality, this plane will suck the very life and soul from your body if you remain on it too long.  It is rumored that those who can make their way into it's darkest places can keep on traveling out the other side of this place and enter another realm.

The Dream Ethereal -  A conglomeration of the ideas of the ethereal, astral, and dream planes.  this plane is the fabric that connects all the facets of this multiverse.  It is a prallel world to every place conceived, as it is made up of the thoughts and dreams of everything living.  For game mechanics purposes, anything that effects or draws upon the astral or ethereal planes is substituted by this one.

Egridar - The home of the standard races, and the most common setting for adventures, Egridar is the material plane of this CS.  compared to the Hells and Heavens, this plane is relatively tame.  however, that doesn't mean anyone should let their guard down here, as it's still deadly to the unprepared.

The Divine Realm - This is the realm of the Gods themselves, their stronghold if you will.  After the creator goddess used the last of her power to banish the ancients to this plane, they have been left to manipulate their followers on Egridar to complete their will.

i will go further in depth later...

Totally new setup here.

In the beginning, there were four beings of absolute power.  They combined their efforts and poured out their essence to build the multiverse.  As they created, their minds ebbed, and they were being drained of their being.  So, being unable to continue, these beings created 12 reflections, weaker facets of themselves, to continue in their endeavor and wach over their creation.  Through this process, the four beings became pure, reduced to concepts.  however, they still use their comparatively incredible power to watch over and protect the world(s) they made.

See the story of the gods and their origins  here.

The Ancients: After creating the multiverse, Opifesca was overcome by fatigue.  she made the Ancients to watch over and protect the realm she had made.  the ancients, in their foolish pride, allied themselves to overthrow her, and take this realm as their own to shape as they pleased.

Intonsus: The dwarven patron, LN, master of the earth and it's secrets, wealth and honor are his spheres of influence as well.
Optimas: the elven protector, he bestowed upon that race the knowledge of manners and decorum. His portfolio is that of woodlands, elves, grace, tradition, and the aristocracy.
Versutus: Protector of the gnomes, he reides in the stars and carries the knowledge of arcane magic.  He is LN
Gestamena: patron of the halflings, He presides over history, commerce, and the oral tradition (including music).(CN)
Proeliarus: god of war and strategy.  although he is fond of power, he has a streak of being overzealous in his persecution of those who oppose him.(LG)
Ignixus: the shifting flame, this god views the world through his flaming eye, the sun.  his anger is legendary, as he unleashes cataclysms of burning wrath upon the unfaithful. (CE)
Hircus:  protector of the wild things which cannot protect themselves.  she shelters the natural world from the advance of civilization.(CG, nature, wildlife, protection)
Perficeus: the first lich, he presides over death, undeath, decay, and entropy.  however, the other ancients keep him in check, so he merely shepherds passed souls to the 9 hells.(LE)
Papilia: A carefree goddes, and he first fey.  she is a cheery sprite who shepherds souls to the 7 heavens after they pass.  she possesses power over travelers, luck, and the air we breathe.
Testudia: the mistress of meditation, she is a strong proponent of diplomacy instead of combat.  Her worshippers often serve as ambassadors, as they are known to be incapable of instigating combat.(good idea?)
Fasa: The hand of order, this god smites the lawbreakers and preserves society.  His belief is that disrespect for order will lead us all to destruction.  His priorites are order, law, honor, and revenge.
Vastator: The god of fear, destruction battle, and it's living representation.  Vastator is a massive black dragon who can wreak destruction wherever he pleases.  Those who kill for the fun of it are among his most prominent worshippers.

These are the Ancients, who made war against Opifesca, driving her from the divine realm.
They assumed she had been destroyed, but she has taken refuge on the prime material plane, where she has been quietly recovering her power and granting power to her chosen.

(maybe not destroyed... But perhaps she used(the last of) her power to prevent the ancients from interfering directly on the prime...)
Enter the Ascendants.

Corvus: god of adventure, wisdom, wealth, and freedom.
Renovara: goddess of lycanthropes ,goddess of change,
Patron goddess of doppelgangers, changelings, and civilization, (lies), water,
Life goddess, healing, plants, nature, light, positive energy, earth.
Accipita: lady of flight, creator of the Raptorans, winds, travel.
Atroxis: beastmaster, appears as a gnoll, god of the wilds, values strength, warriors, the hunt.
Furarin: Lord of cats, trickery, stealth, lies, espionage, larceny.
....more coming soon...

edits are forthcoming...

Due to substantial changes in the Godswalk campaign setting, I have requested that this thread be locked.  I would like to point everyone to the other two threads for this setting.  The critique thread is for discussion and comments on the setting, while the thread titled Godswalk is where solid information which has been reviewed will be posted.

This thread will be kept as an archive of the very earliest ideas for this setting, but should not be taken as fact in relation to the current discussions.

Thanks for reading and I hope you will continue to enjoy my Campaign Setting.

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.
